Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well on a TransAm Ride for 80+ days I had done a tour a couple of years ago, and my arms got so hot from the constant blazing sun. I tried the white arm covers on a cross country tour this summer and am VERY impressed. I did not use sunscreen below them any my arms never got sunburned. They did tan as much as did the parts of me that I applied sunscreen at least twice a day. When they got dirty, I just tossed them in the regular laundry and dryer and they came out fine. Also, in very hot weather I drenched them and they helped to keep me cool. They did dry out quickly in hot weather, so it was a fleeting feeling of cool on the hottest days. I will continue to use them on sunny days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sun protection My wife is really concerned about skin cancer and the amount of time I've been spending out in the Las Vegas sun. However, I was worried, when she handed me these sleeves, that I would now be wearing some level of insulation and burning up. To my surprise these sleeves retain little to no heat. If you are buying these for arm warmers, I would stay with Black, but for sun protection, these are awesome. At 6' high with a flexed 14" bicep and 6 1/2" wrist they fit great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sun protection, light weight So far, it's only early spring in northern California. I own the Pearl Izumi fleece arm warmers for the winter, so I thought I would give these Sun Sleeves a try for cycling in warmer weather. I love them! I bought quite a large size (L) so the elastic would not cramp my arms. They cut through wind and feel light-weight while riding. They are rated for decent sun protection. I don't know yet when they will feel too warm (mid-summer?), but until then they will be standard riding accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved Model These are the second sun sleeves I bought by PI. They feel much better than the older model/style. Smoother on the skin. I have skin allergies from the sun, polymorphic light eruption. They totally help my arms from rushing or breaking out. Plus the smooth texture prevents additional itching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for summer I've used arm warmers before, but since the ones I have are black, I thought some summer one would be in order. I am extremely happy with these arm warmers. They fit great, they do not slide down, they feel cool on my arms even when the sun is beating down hard. Fantastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cuts out the hot sun and damaging uv I used to simply spray sunscreen on for my long rides, and much of it would sweat off leaving my arms unprotected. These arm sleeves work great in blocking the sun and protecting your skin from uv. I actually feel a little cooler on my rides too. My reason for 4 stars is that the elastic bad is a little tight on my biceps, but I don't notice after I've been wearing them a while

How stretchy are these? I bought S Bontrager+ too big, fall off upper arm down to elbow. I bought XS DeSoto=won't stretch over my palm/thumb. My wrist perimeter is 6.5 but to get over my palm/thumb they need to stretch to 9. Bicep 10.5 -11. What size?

Asked by: Lonepalm
The Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves Arm Warmers are constructed with polyester and polyurethane which provides generous stretch. A wrist measurement of 6.5" and a bicep measurement of 10.5"-11" correlates best to size XS.

where are you measuring arm length from/to? Assume armpit to wrist?

Asked by: Rich
Yes, the correct way to measure your arm is from the armpit to the wrist with a 90 degree bend in your arm.

Is this just for one, or a pair?

Asked by: ultraloveninja
The Sun Sleeves Arm Warmers are sold as a pair.

Would these be good as a sun blocker while hiking in heat, or are they hotter than wearing a typical long-sleeve hiking shirt? In other words, would it make sense to bring these instead of a long-sleeve hiking shirt for hiking in Sierras during summer?

Asked by: trail rat
These work as good protection from the sun while hiking in the Sierras and will keep you cool. They are comparable to long sleeve hiking shirts, if you would like the option to remove your sleeves.
