Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoes, but... Here's what you need to know so you're not disappointed. First they are 100% on par with other Merrells; high quality, well designed and built. They run small for their size, so order 1/2 size larger than usual or be prepared to wear a thinner sock than you might normally wear. Finally, they're hot! The waterproof membrane keeps in heat and moisture. I consider this a great 3 season casual shoe but is too hot for summer or warm climates. I wear them to work and they are close enough to a dress shoe to wear under slacks or khakis. They doulble as a waking shoe or light hiker, but if theses are your primary uses there might be a better shoe. Otherwise enjoy this versatile shoe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfort AND Style I was looking for something I could wear around town but also use for the occasional hike, something that would work as an all-purpose shoe for travel. Dress it up or wear it in the dirt. Another consideration was my wide feet. I've had good luck with the extra width that Merrells and Lowa products provide and was not disappointed here. Good quality, instantly comfortable (almost zero breaking in around the house before I was ready to wear these all day). Cushioned soles are easy on the feet after a long day of moving and standing. Good ankle support—but obviously not as much as a dedicated trail shoe or boot. A great all-purpose shoe. Very good value for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent shoes The morning after I bought these shoes, I took them out of the box and wore them for 14 straight hours. I was on my feet most of that day, and the shoes were very comfortable. No need to break them in, as they were good to go. These shoes are now my "work" shoes, and I wear them to the office every day. I can't give them 5 stars, as the original pair started coming apart after 8 weeks. The glue holding the sole and uppers together starting coming undone, right by the right big toe section. REI did let me exchange them, no problems whatsoever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Everyday Walking Shoes I got these shortly before leaving on a trip to Europe where I would be doing a lot of walking. They were the only shoes I wore on the trip, and they worked well for walking around cities and towns for hours per day. I now wear them almost every day. They are comfortable and reliable. I expect to buy more when these wear out, which should be a long time yet - they still appear to be very solid. I think they are appropriate for business casual wear as well as outdoor wear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sponges I bought two pair of these shoes. Both were very comfortable right out of the box. That is the only reason I gave them a two star rating. From my house on my morning walks I cross 200 feet of lawn. Walking through the dew covered grass let in so much water I could not wear the them the rest of the day. I exchanged the first pair for a second pair. The second pair was not as wet as the first but still was unacceptable so I have gone to a different brand and given up on this style of Merrell shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality, but narrow The shoe lived up to Merrell quality in workmanship and materials. Despite being the exact same size as my previous Merrell's, the Moab feels very tight in width. I hope they break in soon, since they leave my feet (which are normal width) sore on the edges. Merrell also seems to like very short laces, giving you just enough to get a single tie. Other than this, the style and Vibram soles are a good fit for what I was looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Look Forward to Wearing These Shoes! Hands down, the most comfortable shoes I have worn. They have great traction, repel water and look acceptable in professional environments. I tried the Merrell Moabs that were mesh, and they felt clunky compared to these shoes. The Rovers are more flexible. I can't speak to durability, because I only have had them a month. They are excellent for light hiking, traveling, walking the dog. Thanks to the REI footwear associate in Portland who steered me to these shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice! Thrilled with these shoes! I was going to Europe for 3 weeks -- one week of skiing in Switzerland, and two weeks of business in the Czech Republic, Germany and The Netherlands -- and wanted to take one pair of shoes that could work for the entire trip. These were perfect! Extremely comfortable right out of the box with zero break-in time needed. Functional in the snow and good looking enough for business. Very pleased and highly recommend.

I wear a 12 Wide. Will the Moab Rover Waterproof Shoe in a size 12 fit me?

Asked by: Steve721
The shoes are only available in medium (D) widths. The length of a size 12 should fit your foot. We do not have wide sizes in these shoes.

the descriptions on your site for the Moab Rover Waterproof lace up and the Moab Rover Laceup both indicate in the description they are waterproof. Is that correct? Or is the one without the "waterproof" really water resistant.

Asked by: gotribe
The Merrell Moab Rover Shoes, item #872816, are not waterproof. Thank you for bringing this inaccuracy to our attention. We will have our website corrected shortly. The Merrell Moab Rover Waterproof Shoes are the waterproof version of the same shoe.

I see Merrell offers these in widths. Do you carry them in widths (In store)?

Asked by: DMan
No, we do not carry these shoes in wide widths.

I'm considering a lace-up and is comparing between Moab Rover Shoes and Moab Rover Waterproof Shoes. Understand that 872815 has an additional waterproof booty membrane, would it be hot when hike at temperature of around 95DegF (35 DegC) ?

Asked by: natchi
The Moab Rover Waterproof Shoes are made with a waterproof, breathable membrane. They will be warmer than a non-waterproof shoe, but the fabric is still breathable so they are not too hot for warm weather.
