Disgusting Engineering
I have ran with this bottle twice and almost love it. The SpeedDraw cap awesome, the ergonomics of the bottle and pack are great but, unfortunately I have one issue with it, and that one issue makes it unusable as a water bottle for running. The issue is the cap seal; the threads on the bottle and cap are weak and few, making the cap difficult to put on and also allowing large amounts of water to leak through at times. This failure of engineering is unbelievable for a $40 water bottle, if Coca-Cola can make millions of bottles at the cost of pennies that don't leak, why can't Nathan?
Horrible Water Bottle
I purchased this handheld water bottle for my wife and, after the first use, the bottle started leaks. Thought that it wasn't sealed properly but the leaking happened again the next time she used it. We noticed that the leaking was coming from the cap area. We asked some fellow runners that used the same bottle and they also experienced the same issue. We concluded this must be due to poor workmanship/quality or a flaw in the overall design. We would give this a zero star rating if we could as 1-star is overrating this water bottle.
Leaks from day one
Somehow no matter how you screw the lid on, it leaks when you squeeze it. I have a friend that got the same bottle and has the same issue so something is defective with them. I don’t see a silicone gasket, so maybe Nathan is forgetting to put one in on the bottles?!?
Great Handheld
Went on a two hour run this weekend and the fluids were still cool at the end. This is replacing a belt system that I wasn't very fond of, bottles were hard to get back into the harness while running on the trails, and I'm not going back. I didn't have to apply any pressure to make it feel secure, I wasn't "holding" the bottle the majority of the run, which was a pleasant surprise. Plenty of room for gels and keys too.
Great larger handheld!
I love the Nathan handhelds! I trained for a bunch of races (including some half marathons) using the smaller quickshot plus (10oz) and I wanted something with more volume and storage space for longer runs. This one is great. My iPhone X fits perfectly, and I love the added volume. Super comfy in your hand, too. It does keep liquids cool longer than a non-insulated bottle, but still not as long as I’d like unless you pack it with ice. Someone complained about the noise the top makes? That’s just the vacuum seal re-establishing itself so you don’t splash water all over during your run—I never even notice it. I’d much rather have that then have it leaking everywhere. Great buy!
Love it!
This flask/bottle has been a lifesaver for the last two weeks that I've been using it. I mainly use it for 5k or less (when I don't want to wear my Nathan vest) and I used it recently while hiking some trails and it was a great addition. I have small, kid sized hands, and was a little worried that it wouldn't fit my hands well but I haven't had any issues yet. I have a Lifeproof case on my iPhone 10 and it just squeezes into the pocket - I've been able to put my airpod case, my iPhone, and ID card/debit card all in the pocket (but it is a reallly tight squeeze). Overall I love it and highly recommend it.
Leaks Badly
While I think the overall design is great ergonomically and easy to hold while walking, it leaked badly from the start. Every time I took a drink, water poured out from under the cap and down my front. I also did not like the fact that there is no cover for the cap from the standpoint of keeping it sanitary. I intend to return it.
great until...
loved this bottle until the plastic part inside became loose and fell out. Now I can't get it back in with the correct fit and it spills water with each step
Comfortable for any distance!
I've used this for every type of run, ranging from a quick 5k training run to a 24 hour ultra race. It's small, but mighty. Easy to fill, easier to squeeze, and who can resist a good pocket?! The pocket is the perfect size for any salt tabs, electrolytes, chapstick, keys, and any other paraphernalia you may need on your run! I also appreciate that it's easy to clean and the fabric part is quickly removable! It's a great handheld for those who don't prefer hydration vests or waist belts, but I have even used my handheld in ADDITION to a vest. I just like it that much!
Leaks Terribly
I never write reviews for items, but I purchased this water bottle for runs - ran with it twice and both times water leaked out of the 'SpeedDraw' lid profusely. My phone was wet inside the zippered pocket, and my water bottle was completely empty after 2 miles. I have a Nathan hydration pack that I love, but I returned this water bottle because it did not hold water.
