Perfect for commuting and travelling

Awesome. It doesn't try to be more than it is. And it does everything. Lots of laptop bags look too technically geeky. Lots of school bags fittingly look like they're for kids. Lots of backpacking bags scream out "I'm outdoorsy." Lots of these urban rucksack bags look overstated. I had to get another Arbor Pack after my wife got jealous over how much I enjoyed the pack and took it for herself. I never thought I'd see the day, but she subbed out her designer bags for this pack for her office commute. Recommendation: The attachment points don't have much reinforcement, so be careful how much weight you attach. And you'll need a slim carabiner to get into the attachment openings.Try the Nite Ize S-Carabiner - Size 3. It's a perfect match.

Very nice backpack, but lacks functionality

I really liked the quality and design of this backpack, but as a commuter that needs quick access to transit card, phone, keys and other things, I didn't like not having quick access. I had to take the pack off to get to anything.

Fits bigger laptop than expected

I bought this bag about 2 weeks ago in the plain navy color. The finish is attractive and the fit is comfortable, with the load being distributed nicely. The main reason I wrote this review is for the laptop storage. All the reviews mention that bag fits their MacBook. I have a 15.6" Lenovo with dimensions 15.12 x 10.4 x 1, so I was skeptical about it fitting. Lo and behold, my laptop fits in the storage compartment! I was very pleasantly surprised. My only gripe is that my bag has already developed a loose thread on one of the shoulder straps after less than 10 wears. I'm waiting to see if it's just an aesthetic issue or if worsens. Still gets a 5-star from me for the laptop fitment.

Great for air travel

I use this pack for my "personal item" when I fly. It fits nicely under the seat in front of me, and it has a couple pockets for small items and a sleeve for my laptop. If you want a lot of pockets and organization, it's probably not the pack for you. If you want versatile storage with a couple pockets to stash some smaller items, give this pack a try. Did I mention that it's comfortable fully loaded? I'm tempted to get a second in case mine ever wears out....

Very Spacious Pack

I bought this pack as a grad school/work bag that could hold books, my laptop, gym clothes and/or lunch. I have, at times, included all of these things in it at the same time. I love this bag. It's versatile, stylish, durable and affordable. Getting in and out of it was sort of a hassle at first, but not enough of one to really affect my love of the bag. I wish there was more accessible exterior storage (there's one sizable pouch in the front) but other than that I have no qualms recommending this bag to anyone. I ordered the forest print and people stop me on the street to ask me about it. I consider this bag my turtle shell because I can fit my whole life into it and be set for a day or a weekend.

Nice laptop bag

Pros: Looks great, comfortable for commuting, padding between laptop compartment and where bag comes into contact with back, fits 15" macbook pro, weather shouldn't be major issue unless you plan to use bag for long hikes in inclement weather (outside of my intended use), large front pocket and smaller pocket under top flap, waist strap. Cons: Could use nalgene compatible pockets on both sides of bag... I think the leather patches might fail with a full water bottle clipped on (I was able to fit both of my 1.5 L and 1 L bottles in large front pocket, but makes access to water cumbersome), 15" macbook pro fits but takes a little work to get it in laptop pocket. Given my with experience with patagonia's warranty/repair policy/process I am bumping the rating from a 3 to a 4. Otherwise, I would have given it 3 stars. Definitely the best option available in its class.

All purpose bag

Dude... All I have to say is this bag is amazing! I took everything out of my last bag and put it in this bag. The weight distribution of this bag is so great!! I don't feel the weight of all my stuff like I did in my other bag. Patagonia u guys out did yourselves on the design of this bag. This bag will be my carry on weekend bag, laptop commuter bag and day hikes! Very happy with my purchase. I agree that a nalogene pocket would have been legit but I'm just going to hang it from the side.

Commute in style

I am very pleased with this backpack that I purchased for my commute to work (purchased black/forestland color). Decreased rating based on design only, backpack in perfect otherwise. Pros: Plenty of space in main compartment, comfortable to wear, appreciate the water resistance coating (though would recommend purchasing a cover) Cons: The two additional compartments lack organizational compartments you'd find in a traditional backpack, where is the water bottle sleeve???, the adjustment straps for the shoulder straps are extremely sensitive; I have to readjust each time I put on the pack.

Great all purpose bag

Got the arbor pack 2 days ago and very satisfied so far....one of the few packs at this price point that truly repel water. Endured a drenching downpour, longer than 15 minutes and when i arrived at my destination my gear inside was all dry. Perfect. Two external zip pockets come in handy as the top loading main compartment will have you digging for smaller items that make their way down to the bottom. A good looking bag as well.

Good for everyday

After a long time searching for a good bag to take on weekend outings, I found this day-pack, which I bought immediately. It's pretty simple, lightweight, I can fit a lot into it; doesn't have very many pockets or extras. However, it looks great, I get a lot of compliments on it. I still love it!

My favorite minimalist luggage

I've been using this pack for work & leisure travel for the past six months, and it has been perfect for my needs. I'm a very minimalist traveler--too cheap to pay for a carry-on, and too skeptical to trust that my checked luggage won't be lost again--and this fits within most airlines' "personal item" dimensions. There is a very basic laptop pouch, a zippered front pocket, a pocket inside the top flap, and a "black hole" for everything else--perfect if you don't want precious volume taken up with a bunch of prescriptive, padded compartments that you won't use. Even fully loaded, it is very comfortable to carry, and I know it will serve me well on my upcoming Europe adventure as well.
