Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I am currently on a backpacking trip in Patagonia. I purchased the Mountain Hardwear EV2 tent specificilly because it was a four seasons Waterproof tent! It is not. I had to pail water out of the tent. There has to be some type of defect in my tent. I it is not waterproof at all. It isn't even water resistant. The sad thing is I had to use the tent anyway and my mistake for not trying it out before I went on the epic trip in a very harsh climate. I spent the days being wet and getting dried by the wind after sleeping in a tent and getting rained on at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect in high winds I've used the EV2 for several years climbing 8 6500+meters, and several 6000+, in Argentina alone. It's very easy to put up in gale-force winds - secure the corners and clip on - and when up and with guy-lines fixed it withstands practically anything (though I had a pole snap at 130 km ). After a few seasons the waterproofing started to fray and they repaired it for free, I've never used it in rain, only wind and snow. For 1 person it's great, for two, tight. Being a single skin it's cold. I'm thinking of buying another.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This is a 1 season tent: winter! Not waterproof, and due to mandatory venting it feels drafty. This tent is unusable in the summer due to heat, and if there's any chance of rain or even a heavy dew in an season, it simply isn't functional. However, it's meant to be pitched on the snow, and will do well during snowfall. If you'll be high altitude in winds and temps cold enough to make only snow, not rain, this tent will work well.

Can this tent withstand the cold in Alaska. -20

Asked by: joshua
This is a 4-season expedition tent by design. However, tents do not possess thermal qualities and therefore are not assigned a temperature rating.

need to know if this product will hold up if its snowing and you need to pitch a tent for the night. How is the product built to resist moisture from snow or winter rainfall.

Asked by: TX Mom
The EV 2 is a very durable mountaineering tent that can stand up to snow loads. The tent fabric is made from a very durable nylon taffeta that has a 10,000mm hydrostatic rating. This makes the EV 2 very waterproof. The EV 2 is also equipped with 4 vents that will help with airflow to reduce condensation on the inside of the tent.
