  • Evolution Tension Arch™ technology enhances the structural integrity of the tent skeleton without adding extra poles or heavy wall fabric

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you need bug netting you are doing it wrong This is a one season tent only, meaning winter or any time you could be in winter conditions. I have climbed Rainier twice with this tent and spent several nights in the single digits inside the Direkt 2. Your breath will freeze inside under where the logo is printed. It is light and tight as a drum. I accidentally left the door cracked during a deluge and got a big puddle inside so be advised. The best thing is that it is truly waterproof. If you can afford the weight, use a groundcloth to protect the thin floor, mine is a piece of a lumber tarp (free). Tell your climbing partner that you'll carry the tent if he carries the rope and stove, you'll win!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Uber light 4-season tent I adventure motorcycle camp. This is the best tent I have found yet. Its light, tough, folds up very small and meets all the needs for extended back country camping. Its a quick set up. I always practice setting up at home a few times and you should defiantly practice with this one. I found putting both poles in at once inside at the back the easiest I usually don't do guy lines and this tent works well w/o them. Some don't really give you much room w/o using them. I wish it had a mesh door, but to save weight its just minimalist. It does have a couple of pockets inside which I find helpful for the little things you need in the middle of the night. Simple, strong, quick set up. Great tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good strong tent for two I recently bought this mountaineering tent for camping in snow environments (early season). I have used it on one camping trip this year for 3 nights. The material is very strong, the tent's weight is very nice, and the packed size is very nice too. It takes real muscle to set this tent up with the poles and securing the poles inside after the poles are secured is taxing. The setup of the guideline strings are not intuitive. Mountain Hardware should provide some exact set-ups for in windy conditions. The room inside is good for two men and your pads. Plenty of length for 78" long pad and the head room is nice. This single wall tent does have condensation inside in the morning but not a big deal. I didn't get to test it in high winds. I thought the mention of setting up the tent from the inside was a sales gimmick but actually was nice to stay out of the wind. I did use the footprint too. During setup, don't make the side floor stakes too tight otherwise too much stress is put on the door zipper and the side material when getting inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chalten Trip I went climbing to Chalten this Feb, I had to leave the tent standing up alone at Piedra Negra with really high winds, the tent was standing there when I returned after 2 nights. Condensation was a problem after one long night of rain, but I guess is the price for the single wall and light tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lightweight tent Very light and very easy to set up after a little practice. Haven't used it in ant thing under 30 degrees so don't really know how comfortable it would be below freezing yet. Very tight with two people.

Is this tent waterproof?

Asked by: williamhawkes92
Completely. Just make sure the doors are zipped all the way closed. Not very breathable then though. This is not a summer tent for camping on dirt. Its a specialized mountaineering tent.

Is this tent long enough for a 6'4" person+one more? Could it comfortably accommodate two Therm-a-Rest NeoAir All Season side by side (20 inches width)?

Asked by: Palv
With floor dimensions of 81" x 45", the Direkt 2 Tent will accommodate 2 20" wide sleeping pads and be long enough for your 6' 4" height.

How many tent stakes do this tent and the footprint need? Thanks!

Asked by: clarissa1077
8 stakes are included for this tent and that is sufficient for proper set up. You are welcome to purchase additional stakes if needed:

It comes with a small metal tube, what the heck is it for?

Asked by: actionscript
That is the tent pole repair sleeve. If a pole is bent, straighten out the pole as best you can and then slide this sleeve over the area. Duct tape the sleeve in place. This should get you through your trip until you can properly fix the pole.
