Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product! Man, these matches have gotten really bad reviews... Personally, I love them. The matches themselves are bulky, and have a tendency not to light on the first strike, (which is why I gave it a 4/5) but are impossible to put out with wind and rain. I put this brand to the test against Coghlans's and a 2 other brands of storm proof matches, and let me say these are fantastic. First off they are SOOO windproof that even after a 30 mph gust, and me blowing on them (till I turned blue :p ) they kept burning... And hot! As for the water test these babies burn even after being submerged, and in the rain! Great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Burn hot, but keep the box dry! These burn well, once you get them lit. However, the strikers on the side of the box are useless if they get even a bit damp. There are extra strikers wrapped in plastic inside the box. I don't know how well they hold up to moisture. My advice is to keep them dry until you need them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Matches These are the matches I use while backpacking. Note that they are not waterproof. They are not easy to light, but I do not find them hard to light. They are not strike anywhere. I keep them in a waterproof container with a striker inside the waterproof container.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a champ! I was camping on a very windy, remote stretch of beach at P.I.N.S. for 10 days earlier this year and these were the only way I was able to start a fire. The thick waterproof coating makes them harder to strike than normal matches but that comes with the territory. Don't push on them too hard, strike 2 or 3 times and enjoy your camp fire.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy to light NOT The first bullet point is an outright lie. These matches are difficult to light; multiple strikes are required, match more likely to break than light. You will need to bring a lighter to get the match started. Your primer will have completely evaporated before your match lights. I have to wonder why UCO has no quality control. One star because zero is not available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to light? Not quite! I was disappointed to see that REI seemed to have discontinued their brand of water/wind proof matches. They did not light the first time, but they are much easier to light then the UCO matches. I used both strikers on the UCO. The one on the box and the striker strip inside and both took at least four to five strikes before light. Very disappointed in this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from great matches. true, sometimes it takes a couple of firm strikes to light them, but once lite they never go out. Plus they are long so they don't burn your fingers. I love them. I use regular matches 90% of the time, but when it is raining or the wind is blowing these are great. They are like mini flares. I am stocking up for the summer season 2015.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weakest Matches These matches are disappointing. It takes several tries to light them up. And when you try lighting them up you're bound to break them. These matches aren't the ones to go with if you're in an emergency situation. They're very unreliable.
