Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good skis for groomed trails Bought these skis because the Salomon boot fits my wide feet perfectly. Skis are great on groomed trails. If the trails is not groomed and the temp is in the 20's the bindings will ice up. This binding has a second bar on that latches into a spring loaded lever under the ball of your foot. Loose snow will sedge in here and build up until you have to take the ski off frequently and clean the ice out. The fix is to spray the bindings with silicone several times a season and this greatly reduces the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around skis! I was having a hard time deciding what skis to get. I wanted 1 pair if skis for everything. These ended up being a great choice! I've put over 100 miles on these skis on a mix of groomed trails, classic tracks, cutting trails through the woods and across lakes. Great for everything. Pair with the escape 7 boots and you are ready for anything. They are great skis. Predictable and confidence boosting, especially for hills!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Salomon Snoscape 7 Nordic Skis I bought this a month ago and have used them pretty much twice a day since then. I've used several sets of skis from Salomon over the years and this is a great product. I don't do a lot of groomed trail skiing, as I like to cut trail and carve out on the small hills. These skis are light and perfect for that type of trekking. The XXL works for my large frame and size 48 boots. The camber and cut makes for easy transitions from icy to deep powder. The double latch binding system is preferred in these situations too. My favorite skis and highly recommended!

What is the difference between Salomon Snowscape 7 Cross-Country Skis with SNS Pilot Bindings in size XL and XXL. The specs show they both have the same dimensions. So, how is the XXL capable of handling heavier skiers then the XL?

Asked by: MBchknCC
The XXL is a stiffer ski than the XL. This allows Salomon to move the skier weight range up to 198 lbs. +.

What is it about the construction of the XXL that makes it stiffer than the XL?

Asked by: MBchknCC
On the XXL size, Salomon uses a heavier carbon cross weave underfoot and in the tip and tail of the skis. They also use a thicker core material to make the skis stiffer.
