Flat Out Excellent Shoe
Haven't worn a slip on with more all-around comfort. This is a durable shoe--the sole and arch support are great for full days of walking and standing around, and warm enough for cold winter days (as long as the weather's dry, the leather is high quality but not waterproof!). Haven't worn them in really warm weather yet. Easy on/off at TSA checkpoints. Suitable for everything but the most formal occasion or a board meeting. Wear them with slightly thicker socks the first couple of days, the leather will conform to your foot quickly. Wish REI carried them in black too!
Mocs rule, okay!
I bought these shoes for everday wear at the office, however they are rugged enough for my trips through the shop floor. They are very light weight and comfortable. Be warned, when I first tried them on my immediate reaction was they were too small. The REI guy said no worries they'll stretch, he was dead on. I like these shoes so much I'm thinking about buying a second pair for backup.
Great every day shoes
I have been wearing these shoes almost daily for 7 months. I must say these shoes have been durable and comfortable. There is plenty of room in the toe box area so my foot does not feel cramped or tired after a long day in the shoes. As an FYI, I wear them with Thorolo light hiker socks. When I wear a thinner sock, like wool or cotton dress socks, the shoe feels a bit loose on my foot but not so much that I would not wear them.
Two weeks, still breaking in
I bought this pair to replace my last Merrills which gave me I think three years of good service with all the abuse the sidewalks of New York City can dish out. I thought they were a happy medium between style and function. But they run small. I am a 9 1/2, and even the size 10 still pinches my right foot a bit after two weeks of wear. I expect they will become comfortable eventually, but it's taking a while.
Nice shoes, comfortable, durable
Have been using them for a few months and they do run a size large so make sure you check the fit in store before purchasing them. They are comfortable and have a good sole and cushioning, they do not smell. I have arch support issues but these have helped me.
Nice substantial slip-on for everyday use
I was sick of my Clarks slip-ons wearing out so quickly, so was happy to find these at my local REI. They are more substantial, with better soles (grippier, more-rubbery/less-foamy) than my older slip-ons, and the tongue of the shoe comes a little higher up my foot - so they feel like they're firmly on my feet. I wear an 11D, and found the sizing to be spot-on. Other reviewers have said that they are a little tight - but believe me it breaks in after a few uses and feels like butter: after wearing these for an afternoon, the stiff leather was hurting the tops of my feet where it creases when stepping, but after two more wearings, all is well and it's like wearing slippers. Great cushioning, too. The initial slip around my heel has gone away completely after breaking them in. I hope Merrell keeps making these, cause I look forward to buying my next pair in a few years!
Heel pain
Love the style and that they're slip-ons (for TSA purposes). However, the shoes have rubbed my skin raw just below the achilles. There's a seam that runs around the inside top (around the ankle) of the shoe and it's going to make it impossible for me to keep the shoes. I compared the area to another Merrell shoe and that pair features a seamless entry to the shoe (top to bottom), thus offering no area of potential irritation. I'm glad this isn't a universal problem but it is for me and others.
Very comfortable
Bought these before a trip to Boston. Walked continuously around the city for about 6 hours a day over two days. Never had an uncomfortable moment. Great for going through airport security since they are slip-on shoes.
Most comfortable shoes ever!!
Most comfortable shoes ever!! Bought them just before a trip to Italy and they were great. I put many, many miles on them each day and they were very comfortable right out of the box. No need to break them in! I am also a teacher and was happy to wear them while standing all day long! Would highly recommend them!
Bloody Heel!!
These felt pretty good in the store, but after just two wearing (brief) in two days, my right heel was bloody from the top heel of the shoe digging in. Also, the tongue on my right foot was digging in as well. If they fit you, they seem like a great shoe, didn't work out for me.
