Saved My Pack

This buckle saved one of my favorite packs! My women's Kelty Redwing 50 had a metal hook attached to the front stuff pocket. It kept slipping out & leaving the pocket open. I love that backpack and was heartbroken when I thought there was nothing I could do to fix it. Then I found this buckle & it worked! No need to cut or sew anything. I just removed the metal hook, attached this buckle to existing straps, and problem was solved. Thank you REI for carrying things like this.

Exactly What I needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great repair parts and I would say the best I could find to repair my back pack. The advantage to this piece is you can remove the pins to put through a loop. This makes some repairs easier so you don’t have to sew the loops back together. Do your self a favor and measure what size you need I didn’t and had to order both sizes.

Slit too narrow for Trager nylon straps to fit

I wanted to like this product but the space for the hemmed strap is too narrow for the straps on my old Trager bag. Would be better i the description included that dimension and not just the width, which was correct.

Replacement buckle

I bought this buckle to replace the original one that broke on one of my Sea to Summit bags. It is the perfect size and overall worked very well. I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 only because it would have worked better if both ends had a threaded pin to connect the buckle to the end loops on the bag. I ended up sewing the male half of the buckle to the end loop to attach it to the bag, whereas the female end of the buckle attached easily since it had the threaded pin. Would be nice if Sea to Summit made a version with a pin at both ends. Bottom line, it is a good replacement buckle and did work to save my bag.

Bags should be made with buckles like this

I’ve got one of those tool backpacks - it’s loaded, laptop, battery drill, tools for an IT guy… people can’t believe I run around factories doing IT work with it, but I do. Recently I learned I tend to drop it to my elbow on the way to setting it down - learned this because the strap buckle broke… luckily because of backpacking gear I’ve bought, I found this replacement buckle - let me say all bags should be made with these - the metal pin in the most critical position of the buckle, solid! I’m carrying spares of these so I can replace them on other bags as they go. I backpack camp off a motorcycle to give some insight on my experience.

The one-inch buckle replaced the original top buckle on my Ortlieb Back Roller, no problem.

Bulky buckle, but does the repair job

Worked well to repair the buckle on my hat. The slots for the webbing to thread through were more narrow than expected and had to use a hemostat to pull the webbing through the tri bar portion. The screw end fit the fixed end of the webbing well and is sturdy. While the 0.75 size is a bit too bulky for a hat, it does the job.

Add external buckles and straps

Works great - the metal screw pin that allows attachment on the female end is thin enough to install on top of other buckles, allowing additional straps to be added. I used this to add straps to carry my sleeping pad (which is the traditional foam cell type that rolls up and is quite bulky). Unfortunately the buckles do not come with straps (purchase separately), and the Sea to Summit buckles are not completely compatable with other manufacturers buckles (for example, Alpine Lowe uses an "X" shape buckle).

Easy & strong!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this clip to repair a dog coat with a broken buckle. The repair would have been next to impossible with a standard sew-in clip due to the way the strap was attached into the body of the jacket. The Field Repair buckle was the perfect answer, and super simple.

Would buy again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely phenomenal buckle. I had a buckle break on a baby carrier and couldn't use it anymore, but with this I was able to replace it and wear my baby safely and securely again! It was so easy to do. 10 out of 10.
