Sea to Summit 2-Pin Side-Release Field Repair Buckle
The Sea to Summit 2-Pin Side-Release Field Repair Buckle replaces nonadjustable buckles like those found on dry bags or V-pull hipbelts. You can do the repair in the field using only a screwdriver.
- Stainless-steel pins hold the buckle together permanently; a Phillips head screwdriver securely attaches the buckle to the webbing on your pack's strap
- Since the buckle is permanent, there's no need to have your new buckle sewn on when you're back home
- This type of buckle does not provide friction adjustment; it is not suitable for waist straps (which are threaded through a ladder lock to increase/release tension)

Easy to use and effective
Sea to Summit makes these 2 pin side release repair buckles in a variety of sizes. The larger ones are useful to repair waist belts, the smaller ones for repairing roll top buckles for packs and dry bags. Unfortunately REI doesn't carry the smaller sizes, useful for roll top buckles and dry bags... specifically the 5/8" and 1/2". In fact, some parts are labeled 1/2" when they are in fact 5/8", which can result in too small fit. It's worse when you resort to 3/4" when you need either 5/8" or 1/2". Perhaps Ok temporarily, but not a permanent solution. In this day of ultralight packs, makers are moving to 5/8" and 1/2" webbing and buckles. REI needs to consider supplying these.
Saved my dogs harnes
My dog chewed the buckle on his harness destroying the buckle. Luckily I found this side release buckle at REI. The salesman was very helpful. It was very easy to cut off the chewed buckle and attach this buckle with a screw. With a standard buckle I could possibly fix it by cuting and re sewing the material but it would not work as well as this buckle on my expensive harness. I highly recommend these side-release buckles.
Works Great
Bought this to fix a buckle on a waist leash after my dog ran on one side of a pole and I ran on the other... Was super easy to install and has performed as expected
Very easy to use
Bought the buckle to replace a broken piece on my dogs halter. It was very easy to install and has so far held up against my 100 pound Lab.
Stripped screw head
Stripped Screw Head. screw driver will not fit in one of four screws. One buckle is fine, the second buckle is unusable until I can get another screw.
Easy & strong!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this clip to repair a dog coat with a broken buckle. The repair would have been next to impossible with a standard sew-in clip due to the way the strap was attached into the body of the jacket. The Field Repair buckle was the perfect answer, and super simple.
Great design
I really love the design of these field repair buckles. Previous designs lacked strength. This will prove to be very strong and rugged.
Camera bag repair
Perfect way to repair a camera bag without having to undo/redo the stitching on the web straps. Saved me having to purchase a new bag.
great!
I now always carry extras of these, I learned my lesson ;-)
Easy Repair
I bought this to repair a sewn on buckle for an orange dog visibility vest. It was easy to use pliers and remove the broken cheap buckle. This went on fine, and is a permanent fix. If you install the two screws deeply enough into the opposite plastic side, I see no way that they would come out. This item is a great idea.
