Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't believe the hype Don't believe the online videos showing this being installed in 5 minutes. It absolutely requires an air compressor. Installed on three different wheels that were all listed as compatible (Bontrager, Mavic, and even a stans no tube rim) and all eventually worked but not without a lot of cursing. I was frustrated with all of the thorn flats from my local trails and I thought this was the solution but it is not. It does seal thorn flats but only for about three months. After this all of the sealant will dry up inside your tire and become dead weight. Then it's back to cussing in the garage. Considering the cost of the kit, my time and frustration, and having to buy an air compressor, I would not buy this product again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tough install on my tire/wheel I used this on stock Felt DB-28 wheels with Geax AKA 29" tires. Front wheel took 2 tries to install and the rear wheel took three. And that was after watching the install video a couple times and reading the printed instructions. I found that getting the new rim strip perfect and using soap to help keep it even all the way around the wheel was critical. That said, it took two days of shaking the tire/wheel and laying it flat to finally seal all the leaks. All told, the conversion took about a week. And I could not have done it without an air compressor. BTW, I consider myself very mechanical, doing all my own work on automotive, bicycle, electrical, plumbing and construction projects. Now that it is installed, I don't worry about thorns ruining a ride. Also, the rear wheel does feel a little lighter. I do worry about running the pressure too low and popping the bead of the tire so I have been keeping the pressure higher than recommended until I'm a little more comfortable with it. Bottom line, if you have tubeless ready tires and wheels, go for it. Otherwise check your tire/wheel compatibility with Stan's or your LBS before attempting the conversion. I would not recommend it with the tires/wheels that I used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not impossible with a foot pump... Contrary to other reviews - it is *possible* to accomplish this without an air compressor. I did. Now that I do own an air compressor; I would definitely recommend on. But it is possible to do it with a foot pump, a lot of vigor and determination. It did take me several tries to get a seal that way. BTW looks like REI does not carry the XC 29 kit that might fit more wheels these days. Bummer; have to order online.
