Rated 1 out of 5 by from failed miserably Purchased this adapter plug for a trip to Thailand. First the selector knob broke off. No problem, I managed to shift the remains of the lever using a pair of tweezers. However, upon plugging it into a wall outlet, the adapter consistently FAILED to stay in the outlet--it appeared to be too heavy and kept falling out. I resorted to using folded hotel towels and a tissue box to provide a platform for the adapter to rest on while plugged into the wall outlet. I returned this travel adapter plug! Too bad--it actually charged up my phone, tablet and camera, quickly--once I got it to stay in the wall outlet. Better build quality would also improve this rather pricey unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Traveling in Europe! I bought this for a 2 week trip to Italy. I loved this unit. It was cheaper than all the others and worked perfectly. The best feature is the added USB port. I was able to charge my iPhone and my camera battery at the same time. It is compact enough to carry around. My only issue was the 'slight' bulkiness of the unit. It worked great, but in some outlets it was a lot of weight when you plug in a few devices. I would absolutely recommend this converter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple but works It's a simple concept, adjust your plug to what you need and then plug in your USB device to charge. It's amazing how that simple concept seems to elude most products on the market. This one works great. Charges your phone, camera, or any other USB devices that need "juice" while traveling. While it won't run your hair dryer, if you are traveling with a hair dryer than you obviously aren't worried about the weight of an adapter anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Traveling/Backpacking Anywhere! I took this with me during my 13 1/2 month backpacking trip around the world and it worked great everywhere I went. I could not have asked for a better device. It fit in every outlet all over the world and helped me a lot with saving space. The fact that it also has a USB port attached to it is awesome. My only complaint would be that when it's plugged in, an obnoxious blue light turns on to show that power is going through. But it's extremely bright when it's dark in the room and you're trying to sleep, especially if you're in a hostel and there's an outlet by your bed and there's other people trying to sleep as well (this happens surprisingly often). However, I still highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clutch Item on Recent Trip to London This was used every day for charging my phone and camera with the USB ports and hair straighteners and other gadgets with western style plugs. I seemed to be the only one of our group able to get the polarized (one prong is bigger than the other) into the adapter, it does take some force. I noticed the euro (two round prongs) plug was tricky to deploy the first time, but now I know to just grab a pen or something to help pry it out more easily. I wasn't using that adapter so it didn't impact me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful device This device worked well for me in Istanbul last week. True, the European style plugs tend to rotate out of the socket if the unit is supporting any significant weight. But I have had the same problem with other multi-adapters, so this may be mostly an issue with the plug type rather than with this particular device. (You just have to find a way to support the unit (with books on a desk, say).) Seemingly, the design has been upgraded relative to the description on this site--my unit came with two USB ports, rather than the one shown here. (And they are rated at 2.1A.) Thus I was easily able to charge my phone and tablet every night, plus one other device (e.g., camera batteries) through the standard electrical outlet. Pretty neat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional 100% success while in Spain. The only problem I had with the device is that its weight/bulk seems to have dislodged it from a few outlets. If the engineers could shave some of its weight and size, I'd be impressed and add the 5th star.

If my electronic device isn't dual voltage (U.S.), I assume I will need a converter? Is there a way to plug a converter into this model if needed? And, finally, if I do have to buy a converter, I end up with 2 USB options only, and no 'regular' outlet?

Asked by: MikeS
Yes, if your charging cable only indicates 110-120 volts, then you will need a converter for countries that run higher voltages. A converter can be plugged into this adapter, but it may not be very stable because converters are fairly heavy. You may be better off simply buying a converter with individual plug adapters rather than this combination plug adapter. Here's a link to our selection of converters: https://www.rei.com/c/electrical-converters
