Best way to lose your most valuable possessions

I bought this in a rush and later realized how poor the design is. There is just one significant problem, but it is huge. The belt fastener comes unbuckled very easily. All it takes is just a little tension on the elastic belt and a tiny bit of pressure on the button of the fastener. Perfect way to lose all your most valuable possessions on a trip. It's beyond me how somebody could design a pouch with this kind of fastener. Another problem is less significant. The red embroidery RFID label is too thick and hard. Can someone explain to me why it is needed there?

good way to lose everything

I bought two of these and we took them on a trip to Peru. We soon found that the clasp comes apart at the slightest tug. We both had to make sure the pouch was tucked into our pants in case the weak buckle became unknowingly opened, which it did on a few occasions. It releases with only a gentle pull. You have to double check it is fastened before using the toilet lest it could drop in. Hopefully REI will have the manufacturer fix this problem and save themselves a possible customer that loses his money and passport. Try before you buy.

Waterproof saved my identity

When I finally figured out how to wear it comfortably - on my low back between my shorts and underwear with only the zippers above my waist band for easy access - I forgot it was there! During a moment of spontaneity and awe I whipped off my t-shirt and ran into the North Sea. My money belt and I were submerged in the North Sea for over five minutes before I remembered I was wearing it, my passport, and several euros. I swam back out and realized my identity and money were completely dry! I highly recommend the REI money belt!

perfectly inconspicuous under clothes for security

Daughter took this to Costa Rica (hot, rainy months) and loved it. It was perfect under anything else she wore. There are two compartments - both about the same size - can hold cash as well as a passport, but that's about all you would want to carry there for it to remain inconspicuous. If you need to carry other items securely, this wallet is thin and you would be better with a fanny pack or similar. Adjustable straps and cloth never felt sticky.

highly recommended for traveling abroad

The disaster situation you never want happen to you is getting pickpocketed overseas. People are clever getting your valuables no matter how observant you are. This belt will always have your money and cards in front of you and can be hidden under and untucked tshirt so you can be at peace. It is a very basic, no small pockets inside but it gets the job done if you arent asking for too much. For ultimate security make sure you put it through your belt loops so in case that it unclips accidentally, it wont fall on the ground silently and it will be hanging and tugging on the belt hook.

Versatile!!!

I actually did not used this money belt as it is designed. I took it to a tailor and cut off the strap/waist belt. Then, I had the bag sewn around its circumference, into the interior of my rope closure cinch-type gym bag which had no pockets. It has transformed that bag into not just a gym bag, but a light back pack for all around use, beach bag, travel bag on planes and trains...All the while giving me the confidence that my money, and ID, and debit/credit cards are safe and protected from moisture and dust, and theft! Definitely a must have!!!

Great pouch!

We used this for when we went to Walt Disney World. My husband wore it. It was great for keeping all our money, credit cards, etc. close to him and not falling out of his pockets or keeping them in our backpack where someone may steal them. Small and slim, didn't even look like he had anything around his waist, so no need to security to check it at bag check. I wouldn't carry anything else in it except flat items. Worked perfectly. Can't wait to use it again on our next trip. Very good investment and great cost.

Maybe a fluke, but...

The strap on this was so frayed by the time I took it off the first night at my friend’s, I had to chuck it and borrow hers. I can’t imagine what caused this and I hope it’s not a common problem.

Old fashioned design with no internal organization

The design feels archaic. There's no convenient organization inside for credit cards, IDs, or anything else. The strap is sewn so when the belt is not being worn around the waist, it hangs loose clumsily. The overall belt is a bit bigger than necessary.
