Rated 3 out of 5 by from Soft and Adds Warmth, but Wish It Fit Differently I bought my REI long sleeve, v-neck silk base layer in 2011. It has help up nicely since then, including frequent wears and machine washings. It does add warmth to casual and active clothing layers, and it's really useful to wear underneath wool base layers when they are itchy. However, I wish that the v-neck was deeper or that it was a deep scoop neck so that it could be invisibly worn underneath more everyday clothing options. The neckline is high enough that I can't hide it under many casual shirts. The torso could also be longer and more fitted so that it doesn't move around so much. It's not as short as the REI silk camisole though. I purchased an XS. I'm 5'4", natural waist is 25-26"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this top I love this top--I've had 3 of them and wear them almost every day in the winter under my work clothes as well as outdoors. Contrary to other commenters, I've never had a shrinkage problem with the tops or bottoms--I wash them in the washing machine in cold water and hang to dry. They wash up beautifully and stay very soft. I like that the sleeves don't have cuffs, because I'm one of those people that likes to push up their long sleeves to their elbows--cuffs are usually too tight to do that. I have not had a problem with snagging worse than with any other silk underwear. I always watch for these on sale so I can get more!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but short lived I originally purchased a set for hiking in Scotland. I needed something light yet warm. I fell in love with the feel/style of this product. They hand wash/ dry fast. The long sleeves run long. First disappointment was snags then tears in the fabric. As this is a very expensive product, it is costly to repurchase this product after only 3-4 wears- especially the pants. Just noticed today that they have jumped another $11/ pair of pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from one of my favorites Wear this almost every day under tees as a featherweight layer in summer and casual wear. Wicks sweat and looks great; the only drawback is that the cuffs tend to unravel; you have to wash it very carefully if you wear it a lot and don't get NEAR anything Velcro. That cut case you bought for your laptop? Or your velcro pockets on an outer layer? Don't get it near your arms when you wear this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from REI Sil V-Neck Shirt I use the silk long underwear for everyday use living in Northern Denmark. I was very happy with the silk comfort but noticed the torso kept shrinking even when hand washing and using cold. I am disappointed because I prefer wearing the silk long underwear daily but the quality is lacking. My husband also has a long sleeve and it snags very easily.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good quality! I live in the Sierra and work outdoors in all weather. I get cold easily but don't like bulky layers, so I use silk thermals as my base layer. I've been buying them from REI for years. I hated the last one because the sleeves hung loosely and it snagged way too easily (a slightly rough fingernail will do it). When I ordered this one, I thought it was a different style and was very disappointed that it's the same as my last one. But I was desperate, so I wore it and in just one day it's already got two snags on the front. The earlier silk tops REI carried are much better quality. I still have an old one from the 1990s. It had cuffs instead of loose, floppy sleeves like this one, and although it's a bit shrunken from accidentally putting it in the dryer, it's still in good shape. There isn't a snag on it! Alas, I can't say anything good about this one except that I like the V-neck design. Save your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and worth it! I bought this silk lining shirt a little over two months ago as a warmth layer for a weekend backpacking trip at high altitudes where the weather would be quite cold. It is extremely lightweight, takes up such little space in your pack when you aren't wearing it, and provides that extra warmth that is needed. We had everything from rain, to sleet, to gropple, to hail, to snow, and I am very thankful I made this purchase. Day and night, it was my most prized piece of clothing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from my favorite silk underwear This does shrink up shorter when washed (even with cold water), but can be pulled back into shape. I buy one size larger for that reason. I wash it in the washing machine and have been buying these shirts for years. They hold up even when washed over and over.
