REI Co-op  Midweight Half-Zip Base Layer Top - Women's

This is a really nice midweight layer with good warmth to weight ratio and great features. Comparable to other more expensive brands! The side stitching makes the fit flattering (I did size up from Small to Medium so it wouldn’t be as fitted), there are thumb holes to keep the sleeves down, and there’s a bit of fabric around where the zipper stops at the top to guard against scratching your neck or chin. I also appreciate the generous sleeve length since I have long arms. I’ve used this on a few runs and hikes so far, and it’s been breathable and sweat wicking. The half zip is also nice for venting. I also love the color and have been wearing it as an every day piece, even when I’m not exercising!

Long sleeve quarter zips are an essential part of my wardrobe - outside and inside! This long sleeve is very unassuming. Even though it is primarily polyester with some spandex, it feels and looks like a shirt made primarily with natural fibers! I like my clothes to fit more ‘relaxed’ so I got this in XL (5’9”, 178lbs) and the fit is perfect! Arms and body length are great and to top off it has well placed thumb holes! Wore it a few times in cool Wisconsin fall days walking the dogs and visiting WI Sheep & Wool Festival. Warmth was good by itself at low 60s. When in 50s, needed another layer it as it is pretty thin. It is a nice teal color and I could totally get away with wearing this at work. I’ll be getting more colors!

I chose a size small for my 5'0, 115 lb frame and this was the right size for me. Flattering fit and I really love the darker teal color. I hiked in this shirt in temps from mid-50's to lower 70's and it was comfortable against the skin and handled sweat well. It's polyester and so did require washing after each wear if my pits stank but was fine if I didn't work up a sweat. Nice to wear while hanging out after hiking as well. Expensive at full price but I don't see why this piece wouldn't last me for the next 10 years or more. Definitely worth picking up on sale.

This is a very comfortable base layer. Though it is classified as a mid weight layer, it breathes and feels more like a light weight layer. I don't think it provides quite the same level of warmth as other materials, but it's also very comfortable and I don't find myself overheating in it very often which is a plus! The material is made with polyester and spandex, and is very soft and doesn't feel itchy or scratchy like some alternatives. The material seems to be pretty durable and well constructed. It's snug as a base layer should be, but not tight with movement. I have not noticed it collecting body odors yet after several wears and washes. The seams are soft also and are hardly noticeable against skin. The zipper lays flat and is smooth and hasn't caused me any skin irritation. It is easy to wash and dry with normal laundering. You don't have to lay it out to dry like a lot of wool options. I liked that the thumb loops on the sleeves have a little bit of an outer panel that covers the knuckle for a little extra warmth, and that the thumb loop is thin/not bulky. The color is awesome! It has a slight heathering and is rich. The color hasn't faded or changed with washing and drying. For sizing - I am 5'10, have long arms and broad shoulders. I am often between sizes. This is a size medium shirt. I found it to be just a touch small fitting in the shoulders and a touch short in the torso for my preferences. The arm length seemed fairly long in comparison to the rest of the fit. If I were to get another, I would size up to a large probably. All in all it is a very comfortable and well made item.

This 1/4 zip base layer is great for knocking off the chill but remaining breathable during hiking. It is just enough density to give more warmth. The fit is true to size for women’s clothing. This layer is considered to be fitted and not boxy. I love the color choice for this product as well. The collar is at the perfect height and the zipper style is great. The thumb holes are comfortable and have great placement.

This top is super versatile and while I only wore it as a single layer, I can see myself using it as a base layer in the colder months. It’s lightweight and comfortable, with just a little bit of stretch. I also love the thumb holes that are usable but discreet.

Very soft, comfortable long john top. Love the quarter zip neckline that doesn’t flatten my nose trying to put it on. Also looks more like a regular shirt you could wear to apres ski than the crew neck kind. Fits true to size. For reference, I am 5’8”, 149 lbs , chest 36”, and I got Medium. The arms are actually long enough for me, which is unusual, and there are thumb holes (although I confess I have never understood the point of those.)

I’ve worn and washed this half-zip top several times now and am really happy with it. I typically wear a 16/XL on top and have it in 1X; I probably could have sized down but it fits well regardless, maybe a touch wider in the torso than I need. The top isn’t cropped exactly, but if I wore low rise pants, I’d have a gap; it’s great with a midrise or high rise pant or legging (and I’m a mom in my thirties lol, you’ll never see me in low rise again anyway!). If you want a true hip length top, though, I don’t think this is it unless you’re closer to 5 feet tall. I really like the thoughtful details, like a high quality zipper and thumb holes in the sleeve. I’ve been wearing it a lot as the season changes from summer to fall and it’s been great for hiking, working in the backyard, and outdoor school pick up/drop off. It’ll also be great for travel, I think, to have a midlayer like this that packs down pretty small. Overall, very happy with this piece and will be wearing it all season!
