Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serviceable, but some small issues This set has held up pretty well in the 2 years I've had it(I haven't had problems with the coating like some other reviewers), but 2 issues keep me from really loving it. First, the pots do not nest very well. The small one moves around a lot inside the big one unless held in place with the included pack towel, which I wouldn't bring otherwise. Second, the handle is flimsy feeling, especially with a full pot of food. If you are using both pots at once , it is difficult to switch if its hot. A gripper type handle (like the one included with the Titan set) would be better. Both of these issues do not matter if you are only using one pot. I like the strainer lid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pot set This is a great set of pots for camping and backpacking. They're certainly not for the ultralight crowd, but perfect if you want to do more than just boil water. The nesting design makes them small enough to fit easily into a pack. I have a windpro stove and it just barely fits into the small pot for storage. I also have the quick skillet which is just the right size for this set to best with. All together it's an excellent small and light package for real cooking on the trail or at a campsite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this set! I bought this set to use in the US Peace Corps. This along with the Quick Skillet made for the ultimate Peace Corps kitchen arrangement. Everything nests correctly and is one of the most compact kits i've put together. I outfitted it with Deep Dish Plates and MSR Mugs too. My whole kit weighed under 2 lbs, and only took up 6 square inches or less. Which in my limited 50lb capacity, this was an ideal setup. Other people did not pack kits like this and had to buy things locally, which were overpriced and no where near as awesome. I expect this kit to last me at least the whole 27 months as the main components of my every day kitchen abroad in Africa.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Base Camp Pot Set Review I've been using the BC pot set for a number of years now and it has never let me down! Not much can go wrong with a pot set you say? Well... I've had GSI sets with lids that melted to my dinner, I've had sets with a pot gripping system that have failed in the back country on multi day trips. All of these things were a bummer, although not devastating to the final outcome of my trip they certainly ate up card playing time and the odd sip of Honey Jack. The only area I can see where an improvement could be made would be to make the set slightly more impact resistant. I have noticed a few dents here and there in the set from being stuffed in my pack against something that just doest have that much give. That said durability may come with added weight which I'd prefer not to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pot Used this a few times on the trail. Removed the inner pot and packed the lager one with stove and accessories. I used it to boil 1 to 1.5 liters at a time and although I did not time it , it seemed to boil very quickly , it poured easily which surprised me as my old pot didn't have a pour spot either and was difficult to pour . The handle did not get hot and I liked it's features. It is non stick which is good for now but I don't know how long that will last so maybe stainless would be preferable. Overall I'm very satisfied with this pot.

How much does the large pot, lid and handle weigh without the smaller pot?

Asked by: Campin Family
We do not have that information available. We encourage you to contact the vendor Cascade Designs.

Does the WhilperLite (international or universal) Stove and fuel pump (excluding fuel bottle) fit completely inside this potset? Thanks!

Asked by: KateP
Yes, the WhisperLite stoves can fit inside the Base 2 Pot set. While the fuel pump can also fit inside, we do not recommend this. Leaving the fuel pump inside the pot can cause your cookware to become contaminated. Leaving the fuel pump in the fuel bottle will be the better bet.

OK, sort of a ridiculous question for backpack cookware.....are these pans dishwasher safe?

Asked by: TheMonkeyboy
Aluminum cookware should be hand-washed to prevent damage to the cookware’s surface. We recommend using a liquid detergent.

Is it possible to just purchase the smaller 1.5 L pot? I already own the larger pot, but I realized that it might be nice to have a smaller pot because many of the backcountry meals that I make involve 2 items.

Asked by: Earthwormgoodypants
At this time, MSR is not offering the 1.5 L pot separately, so we only sell the pots as a set.
