I won't rehash all the positive comments here about this great tent to keep it short. the ample mesh is most useful in warmer weather, for cooler weather say- mid 40's and below at night it can be a little too cold and drafty. even with a small 3000btu tent heater a lot is wasted. closing the divider helps on the heater side except when you are on the floor for the night there's a 2in. gap under the divider and the cold creeps right over you. I had some left over nylon from an old wind screen and cut it to fit over the pneumonia holes. A little raggedy but I don't mind right now.
I used my Kingdom 6 tent on a 3 day river canoe trip. The things I loved: 1. The size, we used the back room as a bedroom and the front room as storage 2. The bag it comes in, no more trying to stuff a huge tent into a little bag and its so organized. 3. All the pockets! Every day i found a new pocket haha 4. The loops are great i used them to hang string lights in the tent and a clothing line outside. I only really had two small issues with the tent...it's a bit heavy and hard to set up the FIRST time. All in all I love my kingdom 6 and I can't wait to use it again.
Camping 3 or 4 times per year at remote campgrounds in the Adirondacks. The Kingdom 6 is so far beyond any tent I've previously used, both in terms of quality and comfort, that it made the higher cost worthwhile. Haven't seen torrential rain yet, but was waterproof in light rain and stable in stiff breeze with guy lines attached. I did need to bring 6 extra stakes for the guys - the tent only comes with enough for the perimeter and vestibule. Love the fly that either covers completely, or can be rolled up for more ventilation. Plan on having this for many, many trips. Pictures are of the trial set up in my yard - took about 15 minutes for two people to read instructions and set up.
We bought REI Kingdom 6 tent for our 4-day car-camping trip in July and loved it! Although our tent is not waterproof, the fly kept everything inside the tent dry! No leaks during the rain. Very roomy for two persons. My husband is 6'3" tall, so he walks freely inside instead of crawling. We love the room divider, one room is used as our bedroom while other room can be use for any purpose. Easy to set up. The screen doors and walls allow the cool breeze inside. The loops allow us to hang our lanterns, while the pockets store our things. This tent has a good quality, as there's no sign of tear and wear. Only one minor complaint: zipper snags so two hands are required to zip open or close.
I just got this tent and set it up in my backyard. I love it so far, but as with others am a little concerned about the door not covered by the rainfly. I decided to go for it anyway because the other reviews indicated there weren't any problems and if one develops, I'm willing to get the additional vesibule. I'm primarily posting this review to add some more pictures. However one nifty little feature that I hadn't seen written about is the elastic stuff pockets at the top of each door. They keep the door totally out of the way when you want it fully open.
Used this tent for 10 straight days in the Alaskan backcountry this June/July. It rained every single day and the tent didn't leak a drop. Virtually no condensation due to lots of breathable mesh. We broke camp 8 of 10 days and didn't get bothered because the tent is pretty easy to set up and tear down. You don't have to fold the fly or tent, just stuff them into the very well designed sack. This makes a big difference in take down time.We used 12 stakes total for tent and fly. I also bought the "Nite ize" tent line kits [...] which were really handy.Didn't have strong winds so no report on that.A great tent, and I've had a lot of tents over the years.
I have had this tent for over a year. I have used it in very demanding situations and it handles them well. It's been used in the worst rain storm I have ever seen. Everyone else had tarps on their tents. Not us! No leaks at all. I have also used it in the snow and it handles that with ease as well. If using in the snow make sure to shake the snow off. The roof is only strong enough to hold about 2 to 3 inches of snow. The tent collapses after that. I know first hand it collasped on my wife at 4am in the morning. No one was hurt and we all had a good laugh. No damage to the tent. I can't say enough about this tent. The only negative I can think of is it's heavy but it's a car camping tent not a backpacking tent. Also for the price the optional vestibule should be included in the price. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
It's predominantly been a cool, wet summer here in the Northeast. We've had our REI Kingdom 6 in the Adirondacks twice for a week at a time. During those stays we've had torrential rain, misty mountain mornings, wind and thunderstorms, and even an occasional beutiful, sunny day. The point is, this tent stood up to all of it without so much as a drop of moisture inside. When thunderstorms and wind was expected I had attached the guy lines to the fly - and it performed flawlessly. The tent didn't move at all in a stiff breeze. When the storms passed I removed the guy lines again because I WILL inevitably trip over them (personal issue!) We've had a great time in our new Kingdom 6 and are really happy with its performance and comfort. Plenty of room for sleeping on one side and all kinds of gear on the other. Highly recommended!
Just finished our first family trip with this tent. Camped three days in a campground near New York and one day near Hershey, PA. On the third night of our New York stay, we were surprised by a very intense thunderstorm. Rain was extremely loud on the rain fly and it was windy. Tent was fantastic, not a single drop made it inside the tent. I was a little concerned since I didn't have the optional vestibule and the rainfly doesn't cover the one door. However, the door is coated and it didn't let water in. As many others have said make sure you buy extra stakes. I used four additional stakes, two on each side for the rain fly. The tent is easy to setup and takedown. Also, it is very roomy. My wife, two kids and I had plenty of room. Room divider could use another latch at the bottom to hold it open. Overall very happy with this tent.
We just bought this tent, based on the reviews and recommendations from this group. We are a family of five (3 small children) and so the inside wall came in very handy. Our children loved having a room 'of their own' and claimed as 'off limits' to us. We had plenty of room, and even though it rained on and off for most of our stay at the Deep Creek Lake state park, the inside of the tent remained dry. The vestibule performed as it supposed to, and kept our chairs, shoes, and other stuff safe from the rain, but outside of the tent. The add-on garage might be something I'd like to add in the future. The only negative, and may be it is just a matter of getting used to, is how the fly-zipper sorta gets stuck when it goes thru the seam intersections (about a quarter of the way up - where the mesh and the solid wall are stitched. Our 9 and 6 year old kids do not know the meaning of going slow with the zipper, and more than once they tried to power-through the zippering, only to pull really hard at the zipper at that point. Another annoying thing is how the inner door flaps collect over the zipper track, so that if you are not paying attention, or is dark, you end up zipping part of the fabric. I think these issues are very minor, and are probable something we need to get used. Overall, this tent meets our needs, was easy to set up (and very quick!). So thumbs up!
