Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Motorcycle Camping I've been motorcycle camping for a number of years, and the subject of having a pillow was always a problem I couldn't solve: My 'home' pillow was comfortable, but a pain to pack. So, I'd forgo a pillow from home, and buy a 'bargain' pillow that I would toss at the end of the trip. But the bargain turned out to be no bargain - they were invariably poor quality. Enter the Therma Rest pillow. Easy to pack, and comfortable. Only thing is - I need 2 for my personal comfort. This isn't a fault of the pillow - I usually use 2 pillows at home, so it's what I'm accustomed to. Helps having a restful night's sleep - and how much is that worth?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great travel pillow A nice little pillow. It packs down pretty small and fluffs back up pretty well. (I did have to wash it and send it through the dryer when it got here since it was stored packed tight. But it fluffed up with just one cycle) Haven't tried it out camping yet but did use it sleeping on the floor on a road trip and it was pretty darn comfy. I sleep on my side so I had to bunch it up a little (I like a sort of firm pillow) but it was comfy all night long. It fit well in the top of my sleeping bag so it stayed under my head without having to chase it around. I look forward to not sleeping on a folded up sweatshirt ever again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed my camping experience! These pillows are amazing! I had been shopping for a compact pillow to take camping and backpacking for a while before deciding on this one. My wife and I typically car or tent camp so size wasn't as much of an issue but we wanted something we could take on a backpacking trip too if necessary so we got the medium size pillows. They have totally changed our camping experience! The first night we used them we slept better than we ever have. We're both side sleepers and they have enough loft for us. They store fairly compact so I was a little concerned they would be too flat. Just unroll and shake them and they spring back to life. This is my first therm-a-rest product but won't be my last!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good pillow! I picked up a medium for backpacking trips because it's light-weight and compresses well. When rolled up it fits between my pack and neck while on the move for extra neck comfort or, I just dangle it off the pack. It also fits in the bottom pocket of my 68L pack along with my sleeping bag. When sleeping I fold it in half and it fits perfectly in the "mummy" head portion of my sleeping bag. It stays folded in half throughout the night because of the synch cord, no matter how much you toss and turn. I usually prefer two pillows and found that on a recent 5 day trip this little pillow did the trick. Another great use is for long flights. I found that I could form this thing in to many different configurations weather I had an aisle, middle or window seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thick yet compressible!!! This is one of my favorite pieces of gear. I wanted a pillow that had some fluff to it, and I found this. Most backpacking pillows are so thin that your head is resting on the ground. This pillow is thicker than my pillow at home but yet compresses to the size of a size 10 shoe! It will inflate pretty fast, especially if you help it out by hitting the sides. Putting it in the dryer after using it really fluffs it up too. I bought the Medium size and it is perfect! If I was really looking to save space in my bag I would get the small. But otherwise I love this one! I will never use another flat backpacking pillow again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I recently took this with me on a BikePacking trip and love how it folds into itself! It easily packed into one of my bike panniers along with my Sleeping pad & sleeping bag That's how small it packs away! When I got my tent put up, I just took my self inflating sleep pad and pillow out and left them to do their thing, while I was at the shower house! I'm so glad I purchased this! A trip with limited space and weight doesn't have to be uncomfortable! After a good nights rest all packed back up easily! I just ordered my husband one for our next trip! I have the medium size, but am going to order the large sizes to have for car camping trips as even with those camping supplies can take up alot of room and these are so compact!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camping and Travel Pillow After using the Small size of this pillow for camping for a few years, I've finally upgraded to the Large size. If you value comfort over ultimate packability, it's definitely worth it. It packs down to about 30% larger than the Small, but when it's fully expanded, it's as comfortable as a standard pillow. Important note: in order for the pillow to fully expand, you need to knead it, and pull apart the small foam pieces, to give them room to expand. Then, let it sit for 20 minutes, and you're ready to relax!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahhh! I traveled with this pillow for 10 months and can say without exaggeration that this is the best piece of gear I own. Weight weenies can keep their 1 ounce plastic bags that they call pillows. If you're not the type who can sleep anywhere, anytime, and on anything, get yourself one of these beauties. For me, a good night sleep easily outweighs any extra weight or bulk. Pros: 1. Almost as comfortable as your pillow at home. No joke. 2. Very durable. After 10 months of constant use, mine still has plenty of loft left. 3. Doesn't leave your head rolling and bouncing around all night the way inflatable pillows do. Cons: 1. It is bulky. So what. 2. Do not try to wash this thing if you need to use it within the next week. It can take literally days to dry, even in high temperatures. Just spot clean it. 3. It can take a little while to get up to full loft. Just make sure you take it out as soon as you set up your tent.

My pillow is a bit dirty. What are the cleaning suggestions? Handwash? Washing Machine? Dry Cleaners?

Asked by: ttback22
Therm-a-Rest recommends using a front loading washing machine using a mild, non-detergent powdered soap with cold water on a gentle cycle. If you do not have a front loading washing machine, hand washing is the way to go. We would recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash (REI item #724687). Tumble dry with low heat. Do not dry clean, iron or use bleach.

Lost instructions on how to store my small pillow. Have stenosis of the spine so used it as a back support on flight from Minneapolis to Florida. Thank goodness my son wanted to roam his favorite store.

Asked by: Subie
You roll it up and tuck it under the flap. Then you can use the cinch cord to close it up.

My pillow is very small after I just unfolded it. Does it expand more?

Asked by: Hockeyboi6
The pillow naturally expands when unfolded and will reach its maximum expansion after 10-15 minutes.

Does this pillow come with a compression sack? Or does that need to be purchased seperate?

Asked by: Ryan Rhodes
The Compressible Pillow does not come with a stuff sack. It can, however, be stuffed into itself to save space.

Is it okay to store the pillow fully compressed?

Because the pillow is made from a synthetic polyester, storing the pillow full compressed will not be a problem.

Will the medium size pillow fit into a mummy sleeping bag? Or should we go with the small? My son will be using this for backpacking at Philmont. Thanks!

Asked by: mamabear3
A medium size pillow will fit most regular size sleeping bags, if you are using a smaller sleeping bag we recommend ordering a size small.
