Great Product
I used this to take my son on his first climbing trip. He's about 40 inches tall and weighs about 40 pounds and it fits him great, although I don't know if it would fit someone much smaller. He was comfortable all day and had a great time. Product is very well built and I had no reservations about sending him up the wall in this harness.
Nice Harness
Our three year old uses this harness almost daily at our gym. We selected it because of the extra safety. Due to his size I think he would fall out of a standard kids harness. It fits great and he has never complained of it hurting. It is easy to use so easy in fact he can put it on himself. The excellent engineering is what you would expect from Petzl. Although, I don't know about fitting 10 year olds like it claims, and I would think anyone with a child over about five or six would look at a Black Diamond Wiz Kid style harness with padding for comfort. In fact the complete lack of padding is why I had to take off one star. I think if you added some comfort features to this thing it would be a perfect harness for small kids.
Adjustable, but not for small kids
This product adjusts easily and fits well for kids from about age 4 to age 6 or 7. We put a lot of kids up our wall, and once they are 6 or 7 it is pretty uncomfortable. Also, if they are small (age 3 or younger) the cross in the back of the harness is too high and the tie in points squeeze their face, so it is not usable at all for the smaller ones.
Great for kids
We have two of these, one for DD and one for DS. They are both smaller than average and began wearing them in kindergarten. DD is now in 5th grade, and is outgrowing hers (so I would suspect it would be too small for the average 10 year old, or at least one that is a relatively advanced climber), but it still works until I figure out which one she should have next. Overall, we've been very pleased with them, and recommend them.
Great in Theory
While this harness is great on safety and ease of use, it seriously lacks in comfort and had to be returned. My 5 year old daughter informed me repeatedly, "Mommy, this harness is pinching my [*]" you get the idea.[...]We ended up with the Black Diamond Wiz Kid which my Wiz Kid loves.
Simba harness
This was my daughters first harness and she liked it a lot. It grew with her across several years and the high tie in point is great for smaller kids to help them stay upright.
Great Harness!
We bought this harness for our 5 year old boy and it's been fantastic! Lately our 4 year girl has been using this harness as well and we haven't had the same problem as the previous reviewer. They climb in it for 2-3 hours at a time, and we've never heard a complaint out of either of our kids!
Not good for tall or small, girls or boys
Pinched the necks of our tall 3 and 6 year olds. Not comfortable other places as well. They felt safe and we knew they were safe, though there are better fitting safe harnesses out there to get the young ones interested in climbing and focusing on the fundamentals vs. constantly wanting to remove their harness and play on the bouldering wall…
