The Marmot Equinox - 20 years later

I purchased the Marmot Equinox 2 person, 3 season tent in 2000 from REI. Over time I have used it on truck / car and motorcycle camping. I have experienced significant weather events including heavy rain, snow and wind with no ill effect. At 75 I am relying more on my Four Wheel Camper but am currently planing a solo trip to Baja sans camper and will be using the Equinox.

Excellent versatile tent

I've had my equinox tent for years, and use it regularly. It's well built, durable, and is a pleasure to weather summer storms in. Headroom is ample (but then, I'm only 5'7"), and the colors of the tent are warm enough to keep you from getting depressed / looking like a zombie when stuck in the tent for an entire day, but not so bright as to attract every bug for miles. Very sturdy in the wind, and will take a moderate snow load. Downsides are that it doesn't come with a footprint (adding that makes the tent about 8 pounds packed), it isn't light (for a backpacking tent), it isn't easy to pack, and it isn't small. Those the reasons it doesn't get five stars. It's rated as a three season tent, but I've camped with it regularly in the winter. It's sturdy, tough, and visibility is excellent compared to many other tents.
