Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moeny well spent I drive a Jeep Compass which is higher than an average car and at 5'4" getting an awkward item like a kayak up and over my head is a challenge. This bar has definitely made getting my boat up on the racks easier. It's helpful in guiding the boat where it needs to go up top and taking some of the weight off. I hated to spend any more money on this rack system than I already had but truthfully it has been money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done! Heavy-duty, sturdy extension fits inside round Yakima bars and extends to give an extra hand when needed. Then slides back into the rack when you're done. This product turned the frustrating task of loading a heavy kayak onto a small SUV by myself from an overwhelming chore into a minor exercise. Relatively easy to install (provided your bars are not corroded inside). Very easy to use and Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this thing! I have used this product for loading two different canoes including an 81 lb grumman whitewater canoe. Its a lifesaver. Helps with preventing car scratches and simply makes loading and unloading greatly simplified. Installation was a breeze. Ie remove endcap and slide in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent loading aid I have this Boat Loader on a Chevrolet Suburban for use with 14-foot kayaks. Have used it for about 4 years, with frequent salt-water exposure. It is holding up great. Nice for solo loading on a tall SUV, and can handle the 70-lb boats with ease.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes one person loading possible I bought this to load my 17' Grumman aluminum canoe onto my pickup. I've had Yakima round bars on the truck for all of its 20 year life, along with bike racks and ski racks, and I've carried the canoe on it many times. But it has always required 2 people to load it, except the one time I'd tried loading it myself and damaged the hood of the truck. At the canoe's weight of almost 80 lbs, it's not easy, and as I've grown older, my upper body strength isn't what it once was. I've ranked this with 4 stars, because the instructions make it look easier to load than it is. Yes, it's much easier to load than without it, but it's still not easy. Perhaps with a lighter boat, or one that is carried upright such as a kayak, it would be. With a canoe which is carried upside down, it means lifting it upright onto the loader, then turning it over while still on the loader, then shifting it in steps onto the bars. I have not found a successful way of turning the canoe over first and then putting it onto the loader already upside down. Perhaps if I were stronger, I could. Unloading is fairly easy by comparison, as once one end of the canoe is resting on the ground while upside down, the canoe can be lifted off the loader and turned over in the process of lowering the other end to the ground. As for the installation of the loader, it's fairly straightforward and is covered well by the instructions. If I could rate that separately, it would be with 5 stars. Any bar that has been in place for awhile will have some corrosion inside, which needs to be cleaned out first. Any straight rod or wire with an oily rag on it can be used, and that works pretty well. Once it's pretty clean, then lubing the loader tube and parts well will make a big difference in long term ease of use. I used some lithium grease that I already had, for garage door hardware. All in all, I'm satisfied with the loader. It does what it's supposed to do, and it is elegant in its simplicity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Boat Loader I have a Ford E250 Van with pop-top with a Yakima track rack system. I load a double Hobie kayak by myself - and am impressed with the ease of this simple solution every time I use it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful helping hand I've had this for about a month and have used it twice to help me load a 15 ft 57 lb Royalex canoe ... it does exactly what it's designed to do, give you an extra hand getting your canoe or kayak up onto your roof racks when you are alone. Overall a nice design and worth the $79.
