Rated 5 out of 5 by from no more butt sag!! I own a 1st generation Mountainsmith Day Lumbar pack. Through out all the years I've owned it have utilized it sparingly. Packed half full; throw in a zoom lens; some water and less than halfway into a hike it would begin to sag lower, and lower. Finally decided to purchase the stapettes. Due to the age of my bag the rear buckles were not compatible. I removed the rear/top ladder lock buckles (cut the buckles w/wire cutters/not the straps) from the bag and replaced them with Sea to Summit 2-pin-side release field repair buckles. Perfect modification; I can now carry this bag FULLY packed and no more sag!! Perfect solution for those hikes that don't require a backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem Solved! Just went hiking using these strapettes on my Mountainsmth large fanny pack....I bought them because the fanny pack belt straps kept digging into my stomach - causing me lots of stomach upset. Didn't matter how loose or tight I made the belt straps on the fanny pack before the strapettes, the belt kept going right into my midsection - so much discomfort. A friend recommended the strapettes - and wow - so happy to say that I hiked 10 miles in the Rocky Mountains on Saturday, and can't say when it was ever a more comfortable hike. Wonderful idea - one of those things where you ask - "why didn't anyone think of this before??. Just makes sense....great product! Recommend it for anyone who wears a fanny pack that digs into your middle....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comforatable, Durable and Great Design I used the strappets for a large duffel bag and the Mountainsmith Tour lumbar pack. It is a great design and makes heavier loads very easy to handle. Very ergonomic and durable. For bike riding with the tour, the strappets are wonderful because I can keep the load downlow so my upper body can stay more cool. The lumbar straps keep the pack close to the body which helps with fatigue on those long trips. The strapettes are also great heavier loads. I attached them to a large gear haul bag and they took the weight comforatably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent accessory by Mountainsmith I purchased this product to complement my Mountainsmith TLS Day lumbar pack for it's functionality. To my astonishment, the strapettes do leverage off alot of load to your shoulders and hips while increase the weight ratio you put in your lumbar pack. It was a bit confusing to configure the strapettes at first. But after a couple of minutes, I managed to figure out the direction and loop of the straps near the hip region of the pack for easy accessiblity. I'm sure this will ease the pressure off my shoulders and back during my 14'ers. Overall, this is a purchase that will suite me on my hikes for quite awhile. If you're thinking of purchasing this item, please do so. It's a smart buy. I'm not sure if this item is compatable with non-Mountainsmith packs. Chances, you'll have to look at the specifications before purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great accessory, not unneeded complicati I like a larger waist/butt pack for day hikes. Cooler to wear, stash enough stuff. The strapettes help keep the waist pack from flopping around and gives extra support when you cram the pack full of cargo. Easy to install and simple to use. I am an older guy now. Helps in its own small way to keep me on the trail. Also, my experience with Mountainsmith products is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed After hiking Half Dome with the Mountainsmith Lumbar Day Pack I found I needed more stability and support than tightening the waist strap alone could provide with the added weight. I have an old model Day Pack that only has ladder locks to thread the shoulder strap through instead of the side release buckles. REI had the "Gear Aid Quick-Attach Side-Release Buckle kit" (need two of these). Cut the ladder locks off (don't cut the straps) the strap loops on top of the day pack, slipped on the female buckle, replaced the male buckle on the strapettes (stock Mountainsmith buckles not compatible with Gear Aid). If you're really strict about locking everything together I used a small zip-tie to thread through the lower half of the female buckle and closed strap loop of the day pack to keep it on. I'm good to go! This accessory really completes the package for the Lumbar pack (comfort, no sagging and additional weight capacity).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth it! I wasn't super pleased with my lumbar pack at first, but I bought these babies and they are wonderful! They are super customizable and very comfortable, they make the pack perfect. You can reach into the pack and get anythng you need and it is great for hiking, you can even throw on a small camelback pack on without interference.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mediocre shoulder straps I bought this for my Mountainsmith lumbar pack. The top connections just clip in, good. Bottom connections just kind of slide in and can easily disconnect, a very bad design. I'll have to figure out a way to improve the bottom connections.
