Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best socks, hands down. I bought three pairs when I was 18, I still have the same three pairs, I am now 30. I wear these all year round. They are on the thicker side but even in the summer I don't feel like my feet ever get hot and nasty. I've worn these through the wettest of seasons and have accidentally fully submerged my feet in water, these wick moisture like no other, they would be dry in 15 minutes while wearing them. The soles are a bit thicker than the uppers and I feel like that gives you extra cushioning you might need on heavier hiking days. Overall, excellent socks. I also recently bought the lighter weight smart wool socks and they are amazing as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking backpacking sock made They don't seem to sell my mini-crew black/red version anymore (the hiking mid mini on the smartwool website is the closest I could find), but I felt this the best alternative for my review. I've owned my pair for about 2 years, and they have seen hundreds of miles (including 2 backpacking trips). They are still in excellent shape, and are the most comfortable socks I own. They are so much better than the REI brand merino wool socks that give me blisters. I will buy another pair of smartwool's if I ever need a backup pair or when these finally wear out (which I don't see happening any time soon). Pricey, but worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to Keep Blisters Off Your Feet I purchased three sets of these SmartWool Hiking Socks while at TBS in Quantico, VA after my boots chewed up my feet on a force march humping with a 68 pound pack for 6 miles. I ended up with ripped open blisters all over the bottom of my feet, on and in between my toes. This resulted in not being able to walk well for a week causing problems with training. After replacing the insoles of my boots and wearing these SmartWool Hiking Socks, I went on a 9 mile hump four weeks later with a 72 pound pack and didn’t have any blister at all on my feet. I still have one set of these left, and they still hold up well working in Iraq. I plan to retire these when I get back, and purchase a few more pair. Great product; highly recommended, especially if you are going on a hike and don’t want blisters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I had more pairs Bought six pairs prior to my deployment to Afghanistan. Wish I would have bought more so I don't have to do laundry so often. They have been amazing. They keep your feet dry and warm and are extremely comfortable. Other guys have been ordering them and have had the same results. I just ordered some of the lightweight SmartWools to have when summer gets here. I hope they are as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fresh smelling! These are the only socks I wear. Who cares if they don't match my business suit. What everyone else forgot to mention is that these socks eliminate foot odor! Seriously, read about it on the Smartwool Web site. The material doesn't allow odor to easily bond to it. I've worn these in some gamey conditions and feet always end up smelling like roses. Well, not really roses but not stinky at least.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great. These are great socks. I use them for hiking and for walking around the cold city in the winter. Sometimes for sleeping. I prefer crew length if I'm going to be wearing long johns anyway. They say you can put them in the dryer and you can – they won't shrink. But they do pill – better to dry them on their own. Wear these with sock liners and you can bring only two pairs on your multi-day hiking trip. Also great for sleeping in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best hiking socks on the market These are the only socks that I buy anymore because of the durability and fit. These socks wick moisture away faster than any other sock I've ever worn, and in Texas that is very important because of the heat. These socks will stay true to the original form/shape of the sock and not stretch out even in a long hard full day hike. You will not be disappointed if you purchase these!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed This product exceeded my expectations as do almost all smartwool products. I wore these socks for four straight days (sounds gross right?) while winter camping in the boundary waters. We were in very wet/snowy conditions and my feet never became wet or cold (my boots are average). Temperatures ranged from 0-20 degrees F. Subsequent to the four days of use my feet did not even stink. These hiking socks rival my Darn Tough socks.
