Rated 5 out of 5 by from When size matters! Re-hydration matters and I play hard and sweat accordingly. This container is the largest one that REI sells (64oz = 1/2 gallon) that is self standing but still wieldable for personal use. I routinely use it (3-5 times per week) to mix Gatorade to which I add whole ice cubes through the wide mouth to help keep it cold. It just slips perfectly into the main compartment of my Camelback Mule. Whether its a trip to the gym, a 2 hour mountain bike ride in the desert, or playing in the park with my kids, this bottle is tough, easy to clean, BIG, easy to add ice to, and is easy to just throw in the fridge when I get home. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you previous reviewers! I learn the most about products by customer reviews. I now have four of these filled with water (now ice) in my freezer at all times so I can be ready for camping or spontaneous use of my cooler for family get togethers. Two go in the soft drink cooler and two for the adult beverage cooler. Still had ice in the nalgene water bottles after two days of Southern California August heat. Since they were filled with filtered water I tasted for quality control. The water tasted as if I just drew from my double filtered cold water dispenser in my fridge, no plastic taste at all! This is good to know for camping purposes. Just in time for our camping trip to Sequoia National Park.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS etc etc LOTS AND LOTS of fluid! Perfect for extra water storage when you won't be around any drinkable water sources for long periods of time. Great for car camping, bbq's, keeping extra water in the car on long trips for emergencies etc etc. Probably not too bad a product for backpacking either, keeping in mind it will definitely add weight, and it's bulk is moot when empty. Also, the humangear capCAP Water Bottle Tops that are made for Nalgene (the ones that turn the big-mouth style into an easier to drink out of small-mouth style) fit on this thing, no problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excels at being square I have used this for years to keep an emergency supply of water in the car. It fits well in narrow under-seat spaces. It's a bit heavy compared with bag-type options but easy to handle. If what you want is a rectangular bottle, this is good. Two caveats: 1) Filling from smaller sinks is impossible. You need a deep sink or a gooseneck faucet. 2) The corners are weak points. Mine tumbled about 20" from the car floor to the parking lot while full, and landed exactly on a corner, which cracked it badly. Bad luck, to be sure, but it still happened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freeze these I fill with filtered water and freeze. They fit great in the cooler and stay frozen for hours depending on the weather. I take these on my grocery shopping trip for when I buy refrigerated and frozen items. Great for road tripping if staying in a hotel they fit in the little freezers well to re freeze. Great for camping, when the ice melts you have water to drink or cook with. When the electricity goes out these are great inside the fridge to keep it cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Squared off shape is fabulous This squared off container is great for making the most out of the space in my REI Weekender Cooler, 2011 model. I like to use it to pre-mix my "adult beverage" for a weekend of camping with friends so I don't have to do it while camping. 64 oz. is a perfect size for this, usually :) The only downside is that it's retained a slight bit of lemonade smell in it, but nothing significant and since that's all I use it for it's not a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "It's square" This is a very strong container, it will take a lot of abuse. it fits in most backpacks leaving lots of room for more gear. The only problem is if you are using a ruck sack with out padding it will dig into your back. This is easy to remeady if you place some article of clothing between the bottle and your back. If it gets cold and you require that extra layer after a few miles its a regular pain in the back. I use it with a padded back pack now, old school is okay, but padding is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from World's Greatest Bottles I don't remember when I bought my first pair of these bottles, but I've been married for 35 years and they came with me in my camping gear. I replaced the original pair about 5 years ago. Not because they leaked or were worn out, just because they were stained. I still use them to carry water for our Dogs. I bought these new ones for a friend. I use mine daily to store my Crystal Light ice tea and lemonade in the frig (read Arnold Palmer time!) Great product.

Questions & Answers

Can you set this bottle sideways and another on top in a fridge? Also is the wide mouth opening same as the Nalgene 32oz wide mouth opening?

Asked by: Caliber31
Yes, this bottle is designed to be laid on its wide side and stacked. The opening is the same size as a 32oz wide mouth Nalgene bottle.
