This sleeping bag weighs more than 2.5 lbs. I used it car-camping in Telluride in July (I'm from the south east US). It was cool enough outside to have a frosted car windshield when we woke up so roughly in the 30's-40's I'd assume. I was just a little chilly in my sweatpants, wool socks, and 2 sweatshirts in my tent with 2 other people. I also bought a 10 liter stuff sack for it- it just barely fits in the stuff sack (in a good way) but it definitely gets pretty small once its in there and strapped tight. Also I'm 5'7 and I was using the full length of the bag, and there's not much side to side wiggle room either- just enough to roll.
I purchased this bag for backpacking. I haven't hiked with it yet, but I have gotten to try it overnight. It was warm enough, but I still added a liner because I run cold all the time. I'm a side and stomach sleeper and it has enough room for me to be on my stomach with my leg bent and all twisted up like a psycho. The best part was when it got cold enough, I pulled the drawstring and got it drawn up into a hoody. So, all the inside extra space didn't create air exchange and keep me cold. Its good, light, and comfortable. I'm very pleased.
Recommend for sleeping where the average temperature is 35F. Slept in a long sleeve t-shirt and basic sweats and was fairly comfortable. Would add a liner or layer up in thicker pants and fleece sweater for a more comfortable sleeping experience below 35F. Packs pretty small and not the worst packing back into its sack. Good budget sleeping bag if you get on sale.
Traded in my old bag for this one as it was rated for lower temps. Great back, very compact, lightweight and warm. Very pleased with this purchase, would recommend.
Very happy with this purchase, not bulky like other synthetic bag, feels like a down bag, opens flat for use as a blanket, also very warm but have not tested it close to its threshold, looks like it will come in very handy for car camping come spring. Compresses very small to top it off. *****
I do a fair bit of motorcycle camping, so I wanted a sleeping bag that would pack up pretty small and light. But I'm also a slightly larger-than-average guy, so I wanted something that I could fit in comfortably. And since I'm not climbing K2 or anything, I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on it. This bag fit the bill nicely. I'm not going to be camping when it's freezing out, so it's warm enough for the vast majority of what I do, although I have discovered that when it gets down to the lower end of the temp range this one is good for, I was chilly. So I bought the separate liner, which supposedly adds about 10 degrees of warmth, and I've slept comfortably (in my long johns and wool socks) down into the low 40s just fine.
Took this camping over the weekend in early March. 27°F the first night, wore base layers and the only thing cold was my face. If I was slightly smaller in the shoulders and was a back sleeper this bag would have been perfect for me. As a side sleeper it was a bit of a hassle to turn on my side as the bag was a little tight fitting. But the warmth rating is spot on.
I’m a big guy 6’2 and fat. The long wide size gives me enough space to be completely comfortable. The insulation seems adequate for a 30 degree bag but I haven’t tested it yet. The construction seems decent, the zipper is smooth. I’d rather the top seal with Velcro rather than a snap, but otherwise I am really happy with this bag.
Works fantastic as I stretched it capabilities under 30F. Wrapped myself in a insulated blanket and snuggled in this bad boy in 22F weather at night in high altitude. I am personally not a big fan of mummy type sleeping bags as I prefer more room to move around as I am 6’6” (78” in) but it performed well and I have no complaints
I used it at 55F at night and I was lucky I had a spare down blanket. This bag was simply not warm enough. I'm Romanian born and a former skater, cold weather does not scare me. This bag just does not deliver as stated.
