A very good convertible bag. Zippers add weight I use backpacking love the compression sack is also a pillow with soft side. You could get lighter and warmer but I also sleep hot then cold then hot so I like the layers. Side sleeper and I toss and turn and this has more room than a traditional mummy bag which has weight but I’ll sacrifice for better sleep. Wish it had straps to hold onto sleeping pad. I paid full price 2 years ago needed a bag for a trip and although I wish I knew more then about weight backpacking etc I do now and it’s what I already have and I like it enough but not sure I would trust the lower limit but close enough.
I've had this bag for a few years now. I love its versatility - now I don't need to buy and store multiple sleeping bags for different seasons. I can decide which parts of the bag to take for different trips. The trade-off is that it's bulkier and heavier than other bags, but for me, it is well worth the convenience. The bag comes with a compression sack that has a felt side and can be used as a pillow when stuffed with clothes, etc. The zippers often catch on parts of the bags, but they have a nice glow in the dark tab that makes them easily found and manipulated at night.
I've done two nights outside now in this bag. Both were in a three sided wooden structure next to a frozen lake, so kind of a worst case scenario. I had a sleeping pad with an r of 4.0. The first night the low was 21 degrees, while the second night was around 28. I should say that I run cold overall. On the first night, I overestimated the warmth from the bag. I would say it felt to me like it performed more like a 10 to 15 degree bag. I had one exterior blanket, and I would say I was just comfortable- never warm but never really cold. It was ok, and I could sleep and never shivered. The second night was much better- I was nice and warm overall, and very comfortable, but I also completely changed all layers and put my blanket in between the 20 degree section and the 40 degree section. I think if I had done the same the first night it would have been better. I thought I had the headroom to be a bit lazy on that first night, and I did not. Otherwise, I really like the bag. I'm 6 ft 1 inch and about 185 lbs and had just enough length in the regular using the hood and plenty of side to side space. This is a great bag for a side sleeper, and the hood has plenty of room and yet can draw tight when needed. A back sleeper might want just a tiny bit more room. I really liked how much interior room there was from the shoulders on up when using the hood. The glow in the dark pulls for the zippers are great, but having to deal with two zippers each time you open and close does take a bit of extra time. Loved that I could open either side. Overall, I like the bag and the flexibility it brings a lot for multiple seasons, but I would not expect performance under 10 degrees unless you are a warm sleeper. I did not try the bag without the top (blue) layer, and I'm not sure I would under 30 degrees. Being in a tent may have improved the performance a bit too, so keep that in mind.
Used this sleeping bag in 35-45 degree weather and it didn’t disappoint. The stuff sack converts into a pillow if you stuff some clothes in it, you can remove a layer if it’s too hot, you can use one of the layers as a blanket and it even has clips to clip to your neck as you walk around. Wasn’t disappointed with the warmth, would definitely recommend.
