Fatal Flaw: Requires Specialty Charging Cable

One fatal flaw: unlike the fenix flashlight I have, this headlamp requires specialty usb to magnetic charge cable. Expensive headlamp is virtually useless if you lose, forget or break the supplied cable. Checking fenix website, there are 3 specialty usb to magnetic charge cables & not standardized within their own product line. Only the right one will work with your light. Checking Amazon, there are multiple types of similar cables with different pin counts & different polarities. Which one for which fenix? Bottom line; nice light but I’m all done carrying specialty cables for one "device". Especially one as expensive as this one.

Buy the Streamlight batt w/ usb charger

Great but the charging cable is non standard. Buy the headlamp but invest in an external charger for the standardized battery or buy the streamlight battery that has a micro usb charge port built in. They are essentially the same battery. I believe 2- C123A batteries may work as well. I have streamlight lights and others that take the same large batt that also use 2 C123As. The light is cool that it rotates 360 on a single axis and can pull out and stand up on its own to act like a forward facing torch worklight. It is also comfortable to wear and not bulky or heavy. The non standard magnetic mount charger is a huge miss because I have never seen it before and it is probably hard or expensive to replace. Hence the missing star. It only is worthy of purchase because the battery can be found other places and can be externally charged. The cycle of H/L Red/White is pretty easy and no miss there.

It is very well made for how small and compact it is. In my opinion, you wouldn’t need it to be more powerful. You can see very far with it, which makes it nice when you are having to set up camp in the dark. It has many light modes which makes it so you don’t have to waste battery if you’re trying to do something that requires little light. Through all the flashlights I have bought, This is the first one that I have been impressed with. Love it!

Pick something with a USB-C charger

Powerful and comfortable, but you *will* lose the proprietary charger, and suddenly it's entirely useless.
