I've used the Aircontact Ultra for two backpacking seasons including multi-night trips in Olympic National Park (mountains and beaches) as well as a section of the PCT in Washington. I've used Deuter packs for years (I'm an ambassador) and the Ultra is far and away my favorite. It's so much lighter, but still comfortably carries what I need for a couple of nights away from home. My son has designs on my pack, but something tells me he'll have to fight me for it.
I wore this pack on a multiday trip in the Desolation Wilderness near Lake Tahoe. The hip belt and back were comfortable and easy to adjust and the ventilated back panel did a great job of reducing sweat, without being too far off the back like some other trampoline packs. We overloaded the packs but they handled extra weight admirably and comfortably. I like the minimalist approach and lightweight of the pack and appreciate that it's strippable and easy to repair or replace some of the straps on the pack as well.
Love this pack! Took it on a multi-day trek in the Sierras where I brought everything and the kitchen sink (we were fly fishing as well), and this pack accommodated everything while also being super comfortable. I found the Aircontact Ultra 50+5 to be very supportive right where I needed it to be, especially considering how light it is. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!
