Great for travel, but make sure it’s closed
This holds 4 ozs more than the version the manufacturer sells, although it costs $10 more. It’s also the perfect size for fitting in the side pockets on my pack, keeps ice solid overnight, and doesn’t leak — unless you leave the top open, and that’s nearly impossible to tell without trying to take a sip. The 360-degree sipping is exactly as convenient as it sounds. I wasn’t impressed with the logo, which looks like it was done in MS Paint, but that’s a personal preference and anyway I just put a sticker over it.

LOUD and leaks after each click open
I really wanted to love this. Love the thin, sleek design and color. However, returned because of two issues: 1. the click top is so loud. i couldn't use this at work if anyone else around me, it would have been so annoying. 2. it doesn't leak when you first put in your drink, but every time you click it open and take a sip, it will leak some liquid that made it into the cap mechanism after you click it shut if turned sideways.

My favorite travel mug! (I actually love the lid)

I love the slim design of this travel mug. Super attractive and easy to hold, and despite what other reviews are saying, you CAN actually easily tell when the lid is open or closed. I realize a lot of stars have been lost because of complaints about the lid. Here is the solution: While it is tricky to visually see the difference between open and closed, it is very easy to hear the difference. When the lid is open it rattles just a little as it is loose and not sealed. It takes a tiny wrist movement and using your ears for like half a second to check. No big deal at all and totally worth if for the sweet design. It is NOT a problem!

Best Water Bottle Ever — My New Favorite

I've used many water bottles over the years, always seeking out newer and better bottles with just the right balance of size and capacity. A recent favorite has been the stainless steel designs with a single press pop-up hinged plastic lid. However, that style, to me, seems a bit limited because of the tapered top. This REI partnership with MiiR has resulted in what I think is the best water bottle I've ever encountered. Here's why: (1) WIDE MOUTH — This bottle is really easy to clean due to the wide-mouth style of lid. (2) BASE SIZE — The size of this bottle makes it able to fit in most car cup holders and the bottle pockets you find on backpacks or bags. (3) CAPACITY — The MiiR website has 12oz and 16oz versions of this bottle, but there does not seem to be a 20oz version available anywhere except from REI. If you're enjoying these bottles at home or away, filling them less often is a nice convenience. (4) COLOR — While the black color is available from MiiR, the unique yellow, plum, and dark green seemed to only be available through REI. I really like the REI color options. (5) INSULATION — These bottles seem to keep water cold all day. It's nice to go for many hours enjoying fresh cold water. (6) MATERIAL — The stainless steel construction is durable and keeps water clean without plastics or odd taste. (7) EASE OF USE — The pop-top 360-degree lid can be opened easily with the ability to drink from any side. That's fun and convenient. (8) BONUS FEATURE — As much as I like the 360-degree drinking, what I really like is removing the easy twist off lid and drinking directly out of the bottle. Rather than tilting your head back with the bottle up in the air, this wide-mouth style can be tilted slightly and the water comes straight out without tilting your head. CONCLUSION — I've now purchased four of these water bottles from REI. One of the bottles had a defective pop-top lid, so I took it back to the store. Otherwise, they've all worked fine. I like supporting REI because of their social responsibility emphasis. I notice this bottle design seems to be discontinued. I hope they make more.

Nice Looking - Poorly Designed

Pros: Nice looking bottle that is easy to hold. Like the matte finish. Cons: Click top does not always close/open properly, which requires alternating clicks/drink attempts to ensure that it's closed/open. More times than not, I take a sip, and water comes out so quickly that it spills out of the lid/around the sides of my mouth and onto my chest/lap. Perhaps the spilling is due to the bottle being too skinny/tall or the way the water interacts with the lid? I'm not sure. The bottle is also is skinny/tall in a way that it either rattles around in our newer Pilot's cup holders and often falls out of my daily backpack (Timbuk2 laptop bag) bottle holder. Returned to REI.

An unexpected and unfortunate no!

I wanted to love this tumbler!! Unfortunately, I did not. It’s the only time I have ever not loved something with REI on it. What I loved about it was the slender size. It was a perfect fit for the outside pocket of my backpack that I travel with. Even the hydro flask slender tumbler is slightly too large. The problem is the lid. Simply put…it’s stupid. It’s noisy and you can’t tell if it is open or closed. I even tried ordering a different lid. One with a straw but they are on a back order for who knows how long. Again, stupid. The other problem was it wouldn’t keep things cold for more than a couple of hours and that was indoors in climate controlled rooms. I think someone needs to try again on this one!

Better than one from the manufacturer.

Use it everyday. It’s actually a bigger size than you can buy at the manufacturer website. Works great.

Great All Around Bottle!

I was looking for a new bottle that met the following requirements: - is 20 oz - Double wall stainless - won't leak when thrown in a backpack - fits in my truck's cupholder - and is easy to open This bottle checks all the boxes and I love that I can open and close it with one hand and drink from any side which is great for when I'm driving.

Looks great - With one deal-breaking flaw

Good: Ability to use one-handed. I haven't had hot beverages in it yet, but it keeps drinks cold for much longer than I expected. Looks great. Bad: The one-handed lid seems convenient, but the difference between open & closed is about 1/8 inch. So you have to carefully inspect it or your drink is going everywhere, which has happened a lot over the past few months. Additionally, because the lid opens at 360 degrees your beverage will spill out the sides of your mouth if you tilt it too far. If you're finishing up after an activity, looking forward to chugging down a cool beverage, don't expect to do it quickly. Maybe my mouth is too small, but throughout my life I've always been told the exact opposite. Opening & closing the lid makes a loud pop/clicking sound. Everyone in the room is going to hear it. Fine for outdoor activities. Not ideal during a business meeting. Finally, lid cannot be disassembled for cleaning. My main requirement was single-handed use, and I really wanted to like this thing. I like the color a lot (green one), the simple design, as well as the simple little REI logo. And clearly many people do like it. But the difference between the lid being open & closed is so minute that I often end up having to open & close it to inspect whether it's open or closed. *ugh* And again, opening and closing it is relatively LOUD. The design seems reasonable in theory. But in practice it's really annoying. I gave it a fair shake, but this lid is a deal-breaker. I'll likely go look for another Stanley Classic Trigger.

Great small travel bottle with unique lid

Nice compact size for traveling. However, need to be conscious of lid position. The pop lid is unique, but has a small visual deviation between being open or closed. A few times already, I did not verify the lid position and accidentally spilled while heading out the door.
