Description says packable (which is why I got it) but it won't pack into its pocket (and the pocket's zipper isn't reversible for that purpose). Hood is way too small; doesn't form a "bill" over your forehead, so rain gets into your eyes, especially if you have a pony tail in your hair. Hood seems adjustable, but can only make it smaller; no way to make it bigger (need it more "floppy" so it can cover my eyes when I'm out walking or hiking in rain and cannot use an umbrella). Seems waterproof, although no typical “beading up” of rain. Good weight for casual wear, but not technical (won't bring this on a 5-day hiking trip due to lack of packability and lack of a functional hood).
I bought this jacket to replace one from Columbia Sportswear which had lost its waterproofing and had a hood which was very large. I could never adjust to fit properly. Thankfully, this jacket seems perfect. The hood doesn't have any weird side adjustments to fiddle with and doesn't hang down over my eyes. I ordered one size larger because I wanted to be able to wear a fleece under it in the winter. That means the sleeves are a bit long, but I can adjust them with the velcro tabs. I've had lots of opportunities to wear it recently and it has worked beautifully.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really great jacket I love the color so much and it definitely keeps me dry! There is a small patch of discoloration on the back which was there when it was mailed to me… not a huge problem but not ideal either.
The jacket itself is high-quality and fits perfectly, so no complaints there. My only issue is with the color accuracy. The photo shows a vibrant red, but the actual product is a raspberry pink. If you are looking for a classic red jacket, this isn't it. Great piece of gear otherwise, but be aware of the color difference!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coat has a great cut; it is comfortable and does not make noise. Stayed dry and cozy in the rain and wind and looked great. After a lot of research, we purchased both the men's and women's version of this coat for the main function of keeping us dry, the pit zips for ventilation while hiking, and the adjustable hood for city walking in the rain (mostly this!). So far it is a top performer in all the categories we were searching for!
I ordered this jacket to replace my old Marmot jacket that had finally worn out after more than 10 years. Although the old version was awesome, this new version is even better and more improved! I love the better lining and better pockets. I'm sure this new jacket will serve me fabulously for many years to come.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic jacket. I upgraded to this after wearing the original PreCip Eco (vs Pro) in Patagonia for 3 weeks a couple of years ago and staying dry. The Pro is awesome and I’m excited to test it out on the O trek in a few weeks — feels sturdier than the non Pro and is very breathable
I bought this jacket for hiking, and I like all the features, especially the underarm zips, but it is not waterproof, which is a big disappointment. I can’t take the dog for a 20 minute walk without getting wet underneath.
Not waterproof. Wet out instantly at first wearing. Then I purchased recommended Nikwax products to wash and add DWR, but it did not help. I like the fit and feel of this jacket, but it functions as a windbreaker only.
This is my second jacket. The first jacket the lining started to shed after 5 years. I like the fit, I use’s it for workout and running errands. There are some improvements in this one. Hopefully it last longer.
