REI tailgate shelter

I purchased the REI tailgate shelter after reading the specs for the tailgate shelter. It just so happens that the tailgate shelter is the same width and height as my REI Wonderland X tent. The REI Wonderland X is already a spectacular tent on its own but when the tent is used in conjunction with the REI tailgate shelter it turns a spectacular tent into a palace. What was once a cozy 4’ vestibule in front of an awesome tent becomes a 10’ haven from sun and storms. REI, I guess doesn’t realize that their REI vehicle tailgate shelter is a perfect addition to the best car camping tent on the market. Oh and the vehicle tailgate shelter works pretty good as a stand alone shelter or with my Subaru Crosstrek.

Beach and camping shelter of dreams

My family does an annual trip to the Oregon Coast and spends all day on the drive-on beaches. When I was considering what kind of shelter to keep my very fair-skinned kids safe from the sun, I was sold on the prospect that when attached to my car, it could provide a large shaded area for play, a shaded area to sit, and easy access to all of our gear. My kids didn’t get burned at all while playing underneath the shelter. My family members that are between 6’ and 6’3” could easily stand underneath with some clearance. The Trailgate withstood coastal winds and was THE central gathering place for our trip. Recommended to many other family members and would absolutely buy again. For reference, I drive a 2025 Sienna Woodland edition

Not dark enough

After trying several other rear hatch tents and not liking how complex and bad quality they were, Im trying the Trailgate. The size, design, ease of putting up, Quality, all 5 stars. But the "sage green" fabric is much too light, as in not dark enough. The sun blazes through, offering scant shade. Please make it a darker sun blocking fabric
