Not so great of an idea.
The concept is good, four pieces that work either alone or together for a total of eight tools. Execution, misses the mark. The spork (let's face it, it IS a spork) makes the spool totally redundant, a true fork would be a better fit. A knife would be a better option than the spatula. And the multi tool is, well, a gimmick. Veggie peeler and package cutter, use a knife. Can opener, can be built into one of the other items. Bottle opener, most bottles are twist off still it could be built into one of the other items. The tongs feature is the sole reason for the second star. Sorry Gerber you dropped the ball on this one.
Gerber compleat
I can not say enough about this utensil! I don't think Gerber knows just what they have created. The spoon is angular and deep. Broad handle for easy gripping. Try holding and scraping the sides of a can with a regular household tablespoon. The spork is angular and deep also. Broad handle for easy gripping. The tines can be used for straining or piercing food. The spatula works extremely well as either a tong or spatula. The serrated edge leaves something to be desired for cutting. In short, I've been using the spoon at home because of the satisfying amount of food I can crame into my mouth.
Great idea
I grew up using Gerber products so this was a “no brainer”. I liked that it had multiple uses and also metal construction. However, it is difficult to use when cold. I recently spent two weeks in the snow hunting Elk. Most days were around 20 degrees and nights were commonly -5. I found this tool uncomfortable to hold and hard to separate the pieces before use. Because of the design it’s easy to cut your finger when separating the tools. The simple solution is to keep them separated. With all that said, I’d recommend it and buy it again.
Too many issues
This could be really nice, but I can't use it as is. One, I'm concerned the coating on the spoon and spork is toxic. It started to come off after one use. After a couple uses I noticed it has a sticky/chalky residue. Even if it isn't toxic, Its gross. Two, why would you make this with a spoon and a spork? Three, the bottle opener makes it painful to use the can opener. Not everything needs to have a bottle opener on it. Four, the spatula would be very useful if it had the rubber scraper on all three sides. A plastic "knife" edge is completely in the way. Also who camps without a knife. The rest of the idea is great. Gerber, please update this without the weird metallic coating, with a full standard fork, full rubber scraper, and without a bottle opener and I'll buy it again.

Cool Gear
Recently attended The Great American Outdoor show in Harrisburg PA. I had recently turned down an option to buy a backpacking utensil I decided I didn't need, when I saw this at the show I was curious since it had way more practical functions than the one I had passed on. After an amazing exchange with the great folks working the booth I bought it and the devour. Tool looks like it will suit my needs perfectly and I can't speak highly enough about your show staff.
Car/back country camper
This is one of the first things I pack for every camping trip whether I'm backpacking or car camping. I am typically the cook on our trip and versatility and uses of this makes it literally irreplaceable for me. It packs down to a easy compact but then turns into a spatula or tongs or even just simple eating utensils. After every trip with a group, I always have to send a link to a friend so that they can pick up one of their own.
Lighweight Do it All Utensils
The Compleat Onyx is ideal for campsite and especially backpackers where weight is everything. At 2.5 ounces and nearly compact as a tongue depressor, it can be tucked in anywhere. Scale fish, peel wild roots, fork up a camp meal or spoon up a stew, the utensils fit well in the hand and in spite of their feather weight, their knurled and textured surface make them easy to grip. The tongs are my favorite gadget.
Phenomenal tool
Can't say enough good things about this set. Solid build, but incredibly lightweight. I actually sometimes even use this at home (the fork is great for noodle soup). I think the only drawback is that it relies on the tension of the full set to hold together, otherwise it'd be perfect. Still 5 stars to me!
When the weight matters
Brought compleat with me on my first caribou hunt. In though hikes in the norwegian mountains it's important to save weight and space, which is exactly what the compleat does! Way better then my old clumpy set I've had for years. It's with me everytime i go out on longer hunts and warm meals are planned.
Useful and Light
Been pretty happy with this set; note the anodized aluminum is to be hand-washed (like all other similar sets). The multi-tool is minimal but we are BUSHCRAFTING, aren't we? Make a handle in the field.
