Great boot for VT winter!
I ordered these boots because I was tired of having cold toes while going for walks in the winter. Since these boots arrived I have worn them nearly every day. They are comfortable and warm and keep my feet dry all day long. These boots are so well insulated that it's not necessary to wear super thick socks (as I always used to do with other boots). I like that the boots have a thick sole because my feet stay warm even when walking in snow and slush. I am happy that I no longer have to worry about having cold feet when I go out to enjoy some fresh air!
My "go to" boot for all seasons!
I ordered a size larger than my normal size due for the use of easy slide on/off when muddy/messy after working outside in them. The bigger size works well for my use; the design of the boot is more fitted inside "hugging" the ankle/heel area, which I love. But makes them harder to get on/off without a little effort. The larger size works perfect for my need. If I were to purchase for wearing in place of a shoe (as opposed to messy work) I'd have ordered my usual size and been fine with the tighter, less easy to slip off, aspect of my real size.
Perfect for cold, rainy weather. Excellent tread.
PERFECT for the very rainy, and cold winters, here in Germany. I was looking for a good boot with a good tread, so that I don't slip in the occasional snow, but mostly wet rainy weather. Also, my feet get cold and I need a warm boot, but not a boot that looks like it is made for winter snow because it doesn't snow very often where I live. Just rains alot here. This is warm, waterproof, and has a great tread. Price point was very good. Well worth the money. I used to have waterproof UGGS, and Sorels, but these are so much better. I am impressed!
Bogs and 1/2 sizes
The Bogs boots are great and I have no problem with the boot itself, just a little issue with the sizing. I am a perfect 10 1/2 and that size is hard to find. So, when I ordered the boots online I ordered an 11 like I normally do for other styles and usually I can make them work. But the 11's in the Bogs were HUGE! My feet were not anywhere close to making this work. Since they do not have 1/2 sizes in this style boot, I exchanged them for a 10. While they do fit in width, the length is just a touch small for what I would normally like to wear. My toes are just touching the end. It's not uncomfortable, just not ideal. Everything else about the boots I love. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and they have been ideal for the conditions here.
Boots too tight
I have a small farm and walk my pasture daily. This is my second pair of these boots. Obviously I was happy with the first pair if I bought a second pair three years later. The problem is, I purchased the same size a second time, 7-71/2. I am disappointed that the second pair is tight. I just figured they'd feel the same. I've been wearing them hopeful they'll break in and stretch a bit. Not happening and I don't feel right returning them. My advice, be careful with the sizing. I am a 7 and 1/2 shoe and boot, and these are tight.
Great Boots!
These boots are great. My only complaint is that they are slightly too wide around the top/calf, which causes rubbing, making lots of walking or long-time wear uncomfortable. Although this makes them easier to get on/off, I would sacrifice that any day for better comfort. They don't 'hug' my legs as nicely as my older, tall-size bogs. This also allows the cold air access into the boot, which makes them not quite as warm. I thought I would be replacing my old pair, but now I wear the new pair when I'm out and about, and have kept my old pair for shoveling the drive, and for play, as the taller pair are warmer but worn. Bogs makes the best winter boot, in my opinion. I have had many brands over the years, and these are by far the warmest, and hold up the longest (compared to Columbia, North Face, etc.)
Good boot - needs quality control!
I am a dog walker, and was happy to find a boot easy enough to slip on and off as I enter and leave clients' homes all day, but that also kept my feet warm and dry. They've worked out really well over the last few weeks. My 1 complaint was that the "BOGS" label on the rear of 1 boot was put on upside down. You'd think for a boot costing over $100 there would be some quality control for something like that. I was annoyed, but couldn't be bothered to pack them up and ship them back.
So warm!
I specifically bought these as I needed some gardening boots that would keep my feet warm as well as dry. At first look, I couldn't see where the insulation was located, but after being out in the yard in the winter, I've been amazed at how warm my feet have felt. Also, I have fairly wide feet so in getting my usual shoe size, I was worried I wouldn't be able to use my thicker socks, but there is just enough room for that if it's really cold out.
Great rugged design.
The boot is rugged and warm, fits fine once you get it on your foot. However..... getting the boot off was an impossible feat! I struggled to the point where my calves cramped up. So I have taken big cans of baked beans to stretch out the ankles when not in use. This seems to be working. I assume the more I wear them in, the looser they will get. And ease off getting them off will be easier! I love them, but I don't want to sleep with them!
A little too big this time
This is my second pair of Bogs. I bought the first pair several years ago and wear them outside all year long. I looked inside the old pair and it said size 8. So I ordered a size 8 again. The boots feel much bigger than the old pair. I should have tried them on before I went outside, but too late. Not sure why these boots are "too roomy" compared to the previous boots. Overall, it's a quality product - that's why I bought them again.
