Very poor quality for the price. My husband had these for less than six months and both back pockets are now torn and he can’t hold anything in them without it falling through his pant leg.
They're nice pants in line with the rest of the basin trek line, which I really like. They fit probably a single size bigger in the waist than most brands, which is also my experience with other basin trek stuff. Unfortunately, the leg zips are much too narrow. The zippers obviously aren't stretchy, so when they pull up with movement, it's very tight and digs into my quads. I think these would be great for anyone with thinner legs, but I suggest passing on them if you have remotely shapely quads.
This is such an improvement on other convertible shorts. They fit well and I really appreciate the small zip pocket on the hip. Also as usual mountain hardware keeps one rear pocket zip and the other open that’s very helpful when you don’t wanna lose stuff. It’s sort of a snug fit but I can’t stand having shorts drop below my knees and this is nice and short.
These pants are durable, lightweight and easily packable for trips. They wear well and the zippered front pocket is helpful for keeping pickpockets away, or keeping items secured in your pockets. Have not tried converting them to shorts yet. Have been through a few wears and washes and have held up great so far.
Great practical multi use pants. Enjoyed wearing them while cycling and sport climbing, all the way to business casual in the office. Good fit for men with big butts. True to size. Only complaint is the zipper and cuff at the convertible seem is tight at times in dynamic movement.
Barely wore a few times around the house, both the backpocket seams have come apart and I have holes in both backpockets now. Expected better quality materials from MH but disappointed with this purchase
Great all purpose zip-off pants. These fit and feel more like regular jeans than some. The fabric is slightly lighter than similar pairs that I have, so they're good for summer and shoulder seasons.
I love these pants! They’re so comfortable I could easily sleep in them. The pockets are great, and they convert to shorts extremely easily. I love them so much I bought a second pair.
Pants are very comfortable and lightweight. Usually on convertible pants, you can feel the zippers and seams of the pants, but on this one, it's unnoticeable.
This is the third pair of Mountain Hardwear's zip-off pants that I've bought. I love that the shorts aren't too long, as most shorts are nowadays. My first pair of Mountain Hardware zip-off pants also lasted for a very long time, so that's another positive. The new verision has belt loops for my own belt, instead of including a belt. The thin, fabric belt that came with my first pair got pulled through in the wash, so I like this upgrade. Unfortunately, Mountain Hardware removed the zipper on the bottom of the pant leg in this version. Zip-off pants are much easier to use if you don't have to take off your shoes to zip them off, so the removal of this very practical feature is a step backwards. The first pair of Mountain Hardware zip-off pants also had a hook in one of the pockets to secure my keys. Because the pockets are not particularly deep, and these pants will be used in the wilderness or traveling--both places where one would really not want to lose one's keys--this hook was also a reassuring feature that has, unfortunately, been phased out. Despite a couple of steps backwards, these are still very good pants.
