REI Co-op  Swiftland H2O Running Jacket - Men's

I tried out this running rain jacket on a half marathon trail run that I did while pushing my daughter. For me I know that a rain jacket will keep me dry from the outside, my main concern is how will it help get rid of my sweat and moisture build up. This jacket does a great job with two back vents that really help push out the heat and help with moisture build up from the inside. In the PNW there are a lot of misty/rainy days in the 50 degree range and this jacket will work well on those runs. Keeping you cooler and without that clammy feeling you get with some other rain jackets. I like that they added a little clip to hold down the hood, because a lot of the time I am wearing a hat and the hood isn't needed unless a big downpour happens. Also it's an adjustable hood which is nice depending on if I have a hat or not. My favorite part of the jacket is the fit. So many running jackets are built for a 6 foot 3 and 160 marathoner. I'm not that. It's an athletic fit, but not to tight and in winter I'll be able to throw on an extra layer without any trouble. My two issues/ worries are the DWR waterproofing and how long it will last until the jacket starts to wet out, but time will only tell on that. The second is that I really really like the vents in the back to get rid of heat and moisture, but if I put on a vest or pack it covers them up so it makes them nonfunctional. I also wish it had maybe some kind of pot zip or small holes to help with more heat/moisture release, but that would add weight

This is a very nice light rain jacket. I tried it out in a brief thunderstorm and it kept me dry. It also worked well as a wind shell in a higher altitude in Colorado. The jacket has multiple pockets with lots of room for phone, keys, and other small things. It packs down super well and works great for layering.

Great lightweight jacket for when the elements become wet. Nice stretchy material that moves with you. Hood has a nice brim that can keep the rain off your face. Solid feeling materials that make up the bungees and zippers. Zippered pockets are a nice depth without being too big.

With a price point of $149 this jacket could be way better( I see a price drop,but still believe this jacket over priced for what it is.) The feel is light: semi-durable and material is stretchy and my height and size makes the XL a good fit if I am wearing a tshirt or tank top. To be honest, as an experienced trail runner and hiker I would not wear this while actually running. The Vent at the back is okay but really needs the zipper vents at the armpit. When you run you sweat which makes venting just at the back not ideal. Wearing this jacket and sweating and running, even on a cool day is also not ideal. Id rather just run in the rain. The pockets are deep but a very light mesh makes the material easy to rip if you have keys etc. This Jacket does fold up well and can be stored in a hip pack( but why would a runner be wearing that?) seems like this Jacket is better suited for a hiker needing to put on a rain jacket if the weather changes quickly. The jacket repels water but only minimally( good for a light downpour but for a rainstorm there are better rain jackets out there). I do like the color(red) which makes it easy for rescue and others to spot you if you get lost on the trail. The hood is okay and cinches well but prefer the cinch to be on the front of the hood instead of on the back of the head( that was a bit aggravating to work). All in all the jacket is okay for a beginner hiker doing easy trails and easy weather, but even with the price drop from $149 to $100, its still too expensive for what it is.

The brightly colored Swiftland jacket is made of a magic material that sheds water, stretches comfortably, and provides protection from the elements. Breathability is always an important consideration for me when deciding what to wear when it's raining. Do I just run with a normal running shirt and get wet, or do I wear a weather-proof jacket and still get wet from my sweat because of poor air circulation around my body? The Swiftland provides a level of breathability that is about halfway between a normal running shirt and a garbage bag, which is about what I expected. I tested this in an early September light rain shower. The jacket shed the water perfectly, but I did get quite warm. It moves very well with my running motion. The hood is just a bit big for my head but it is adjustable. It would have been best to test this when it's 45-50 degrees or cooler in a heavier rain. My guess is that this is when the jacket would be at its best. The top third of the back of the jacket overlays the bottom 2/3's so there is ample air flow that enters from the rear. It's a clever design that includes a support strap that keeps it all together. You'll see what I'm talking about when you take a look inside. Overall, the water protection is excellent, but it is brand new. My experience has been that waterproofing becomes less effective over time. We'll see how this holds up. But for now, no water leaked inside, including on the seams. The jacket looks fantastic! The red color is super cool. The fit is a bit large when I put it over a thin running shirt. The larger size will come in handy when I want to wear an extra layer beneath. I think it's a good compromise. Overall, high marks for this well designed, functional, and good looking jacket.

The first thing that stood out about this jacket is how darn good looking it is. It looks great and it's instantly comfortable, I plan on wearing it while walking around town, not just on runs. It's very soft for a waterproof shell, most other waterproof shells are very stiff. It's a little heaver than some other lightweight shells, it seems like that might be because it's a little bit more robust around the seams. It's held up in the September rain showers so far, all signs indicate it'll perform well for seasons to come.

Love the fit of this jacket all around!! My only complaint is that I wish it was a little longer for us tall people. I love that REI has started implementing Tall sizing with some of its clothing, I just wish it expanded across the board to cool stuff like this. Other than that this rain jacket is perfect!!

My son and I went snowshoeing, for two and a half hours, up Mt Rose highway, in a very wet heavy snowstorm. I wore an older water resistant jacket and down jacket underneath. He wore the REI Swiftland H2O Running jacket with a down jacket underneath. I was soaked to the skin within an hour and had to keep moving or I got very cold. My son was completely dry and toasty in his Swiftland H2O Running jacket! The large jacket was the perfect size over his other winter clothes. I have since ordered a XL size for me and can’t wait to wear it in wet weather and stay dry and warm.

I bought this coat prior to the Baltimore Half Marathon. It rained the entire race. This coat kept me dry and comfortable with excellent airflow. Air temp was 56 degrees, rain was light to moderate. As someone who has tried, and failed, to find rain protection for fall, winter, spring racing season, this coat was exactly what I have been searching for.

I have used the jacket several times for rain and as a windbreak on really cold days. Running in a strong drizzle in 44 degrees with a 15 mph winds was comfortable for the hour I was out there. I would not want to wear this in July. The wind proofing is good. In a strong tailwind the vent flaps in the back let some of the cold in. The hood is roomy and stays in place. The zipper feels cheap and is a concern for the long term. I like this jacket and how it looks and would recommend it.
