Shoe was excellent. Good fit, good grip, little bit of forward roll when running. My only problem is that the lugs are starting to shear off, especially on the left foot. The right outsole is also showing some premature wear as well. Have only used this shoe for just over 50 miles so I’m disappointed it’s not going the distance. I haven’t read any other reviews with this problem so I’m hoping it’s just a one off.
I've got 100km on these shoes and really like the feel of them, they are squishy but stable and the outsole grip is fantastic. They also look great! If I was to ask for one chnage in the fit it would be some more space in the toebox as they do rub my pinky. One concern I have is the durability, I've already torn the lace garage while stuffing in the laces, some lugs have started to shear off, and I can see some abrasion on the inside toe that I think will turn into a full rip in another few hundred kms.
Fantastic trail shoe. A big upgrade to the peregrine line up in my opinion. Cushion is perfect. The upper is very nice and between that and how my heel sits deeper I n the shoes(compared to the peregin12)provided a great lock down. My only complaint is traction could still be better. PNW runner and these will be my go to pair of trails shoes.
I run ~30 - 40 miles per week on trails in the PNW. I love the fit of this shoe. There are three things that keep it from a 5 star rating in my opinion. (1) The sole shows significant wear (lugs worn down) at roughly 200 miles. Prior versions of the shoe did not show this type of wear under similar conditions at ~400 miles. (2) Small issue but the laces on the newest version frequently become untied causing me to stop and adjust. (3) Another small issue but I do not like the color options. Too bright for my taste. As I started with the shoe fit is outstanding and feel on trails is great. I will continue to purchase but hope Saucony hears these concerns and makes the few small adjustments to the model.
I love the cushion and the fit of these shoes. The traction is excellent and perhaps the best of any shoes I have used for trail running. They also breath well and the uppers hold up with rough use. Unfortunately, I have had sections of the soles tear away/de-laminate from the forefoot on two different pairs of these shoes. IMHO the glue is inadequate and the rubber too thin to wear well in rough, rocky terrain if you are a serious trail runner. I tried to contact Saucony by email but there is no way to provide them feedback. I would love to see them improve these soles, but at this point it has me looking at other brands.
I LOVE the original Xodus Ultra trail shoe. I was excited for the v2 of this model. Wasn't much I didn't like about the original other than the laces would loosen up, and you had to tighten them after an hour or so of running. Saucony updated the upper to fix that in the V2 model, and they did a good job with it, however the material change for the upper is not nearly as durable. It holds onto moisture and weakens quickly, then started to tear after only a 100 miles of trail use. I now have holes along the inner sections of the shoes where it bends. Everything else is fantastic, but a shoe is worthless if the upper can't outlast the life of the sole. The shoe is really comfortable on the trails, has pop and is fast, it's just really unfortunate the upper has issues.
This shoe is a really nice upgrade from the Peregrine and is becoming my go-to shoe for just about everything aside from road running. I've run an ultramarathon in it, logs lots of trail miles and also taken it on some easy climbing. Fits my foot really well with enough room for the toes but doesn't feel clowny like some of the Altras. Grippy sole with big lugs for mud, snow, dirt. The midsole material is surprisingly springy and feels fast, gives me a bit of extra spring in my step on the runnable sections vs. other shoes that are just plushy. Durability is so far quite good even though I've thrashed them on really rocky terrain. Switched from the popular Speedgoats and very happy with this shoe!
I bought this shoe for trail running and I love it! While I enjoy my Peregrine 13's, these are probably going to be my new go to trail runners. The cushioning is amazing, and I feel like I can run forever in these things. There is a little bit of spring back into your foot. The tread is legit and the shoe construction is well thought through. If I had to pick something that I don't like about this shoe it would be the laces. I don't know why they did not stick with their normal laces? These laces seem skinnier and flimsy, perhaps it is to allow them to be stuffed into the pocket on top of the tongue? Overall, very happy with this purchase. Buy these trail runners! You will not regret it.
Thanks for the great feedback! We love hearing from happy customers!
Most of my trail running/hiking is here in the PNW. My go to shoe for technical trails with 1000+ feet per mile is usually the Peregrine 12. I came in to REI to check out the Peregrine 13 after hearing it was a little more plush but retained it's technical prowess. I have the V1 of the Exodus and have found stability is not it's strong suit in technical terrain. Super comfortable, but get it in the rocks, roots, and steep decents and it struggled. The P12 is a scalple on terrain like Mailbox Peak's old trail but having some extra cush would be nice. Enter the Exodus 2. I had zero intention of trying another shoe that struggled with PNW technical terrain. I decided to try a pair on and to my surprise Saucony really did improve this shoe. For a shoe that has such a plush ride with the dual foam platform I was shocked how stable it is.V1 Exodus is lower in stack and the sole on the V2 is a bit more firm. Acording to Saucony nothing changed. I have put on the V1 on one foot and the V2 on the other and there is a difference. If I would have listened to the review on the E2 that some of the Exodus magic was lost with the firmer foam I would have not tried on this shoe. I put the P13 on one foot and the Exodus 2 on the other and spent a good amount of time on the test boulder at REI. The new Exodus was more stable and had better lockdown on the downhill. The Exodus was better in every way. Whatever changes Saucony really made to the E2 really, really work. I walked out the door with the Exodus 2 and it has been excellent on the techincal trails. If you were looking for Peregrine with more cush this is the shoe. I was sad to see the Peregrine move in the direction it did. I still love the P12 for short, nimble, speedy ups, and downs where feel is more important than cushion. Now that the P13 lost that feel you would be crazy not to go with the Exodus 2. For the price you get a shoe you can cover any ground in the PNW with better comfort and stability. I think that this is the best trail/hiking shoe that Saucony has made to date. Having several different trail shoes to choose from I find myself using the E2 all the time. The Exodus 2 is a game changer. Great ride, good feel, great stability, and highly versatile.
I’ll start with the good, a lot of protection under foot, I run in the rocky rooty north east and the offset suits the shoe well. The bad, I had the peregrine 13 and loved them but wanted a little more comfort so I went to these. 1. Heavier so not as snappy and responsive 2. When stepping on rocks on the outer part of the sole, the shoe rolls up, foot slides around inside 3. No loop for waiters to attach to 4. Outer part of the shoe comes up too high and rubs ankles 5. My foot doesn’t feel secure in the shoe, lacing is funky. Yes, they’re the right size and I have 80 miles on them.
We appreciate your feedback Mike.
