Falling apart inside

Initially loved the jacket but with gentle use and following the recommended cleaning, i noticed the inside liner was falling apart. Initially i thought was a small rip but as you can see in my pics the liner is crumbling away. And cant find my receipt as i would definitely ask for a refund. Avoid this jacket

trash product with cheap liner

cheap trash - the liner rips if you wear a watch, or a backpack, or put anything in the pockets. horrible product not worth half the price

Love everything about it except the shape

I love the feel of this shell, the adjustability of the hood and wrists, and the pit sleeves. I've only had it out in a few good rains so far but it does a great job of keeping me dry and warm. The only complaint I have is the cut. I have broad shoulders and arms and OR usually fits me well, but I feel like on this one they could add just a touch more room in the arm holes and upper arms. It's just on the cusp of being too tight up top and I got the same size that I always do in OR, XL. sizing up one more would lead to a poor fit everywhere else so that isn't really an option. But overall it's a good deal, especially at this price point.

Does the job!

Have had this jacket for a little bit now, and I like how simple the design is. Two pockets, pull cords for the waist and the hood, and pit zips (which was a must for me). I don't get too hot in it but when there's a summer rain it can get a little sticky. I have used it in the field / hiking / backpacking and it also stood up against the elements. I like it for biking too because the hood is big enough to provide coverage for my eyes/forehead. **BONUS: this jacket has also probably saved my life a few times walking/biking late at night due to the bright yellow color!! I notice that cars stop more readily when they see me with this on**

Great rain jacket, does its job

This is hands-down one of the best rain jackets I've ever owned. It does its job well and keeps the rain off of you. Even the hood can be adjusted so that it does not interfere with your vision. Here in the Pacific Northwest, a good rain jacket is a must. Packs pretty small and can easily be stored inside a backpack or similar luggage. The sizing is a little snug so I would recommend you take a good look at the sizing chart or just get a size larger. Only con is that it is not very breathable which is to be expected from a rain jacket. Outdoor research if you are listening please add some armpit zippers I think this will help the ventilation problem.

not great

bought it on clearance. fit was perfect, great aesthetic, nice features. buuuuut, took it camping in the rain and it only repelled water for the first hour or two; after that my jacket underneath got soaked. good rain jacket if you're briefly running from spot to spot, not good for prolonged exposure. per usual, rei shined with their return policies, so no worries.

Good technical jacket

I needed another rain jacket to keep in the locker at work for running out on cold and wet days. It is probably a bit overkill for that but I do appreciate the long sleeves and large hood for keeping me dry in a Seattle downpour. Pockets are amply sized. There's no frills and nothing to break on this piece. The material seems abrasion resistant and the inner material doesn't seem susceptible to breakdown or flaking which has been the doom of some far more expensive jackets I've owned. I'll be keeping this one a long time. Not as fashion forward as some of the offerings from other brands but great value at this price point.

Comfortable, Water Proof...Could Use Zipper Improvement

I purchased the jacket primarily for trail running, mountain biking, and adventure travel. Additionally, I'm always looking for a coat that will work casually as well (so I don't have to pack extra stuff!). I really like the fit and appearance of this jacket. It's comfy, seems to breath well, and is of course water resistant - I haven't gotten wet, yet! My one improvement would be the stops at the bottom of the zipper. They catch and I have a hard time opening the jacket. On more than one occasion I've had to just pull it over by head - which sucks when you're running or have a pack on. Could just be mine, who knows. If the stops didn't catch, I'd go 5 star for sure.

Great jacket to go with the great pants!

Rain jackets, like rain pants, are a little hard to to describe why you give them a certain score because the test is pretty simple-either they work or they don't. I bought this as a backup option to my Torentshell 3L when I'm in rough terrain, and they have stood the test of time and have worked great. It is lightweight and easily packable. I have even used it as "ski" jacket over a puffy and it held up great and provided plenty of flexibility. Since I am not a regular skier, this is a great cold weather option. Now, I just have to keep my teenage kids from "borrowing" it and get them one of their own.

Solid Casual Rain Jacket

This is probably the most quality you're going to get out of a 2.5-layer rain jacket. It doesn't have features that I would have liked for alpine activities, but it isn't really designed for that. It fits well and cinches down nicely. Personally, I would have given it a laminated bill on the hood which would add comfort and style. However, I know this is supposed to be on the affordable side so I get it. It isn't breathable enough to hike in--even with the pit zips--unless the temps have really dropped. That said, I sweat a lot and probably couldn't even hike in a gortex or ascentshell jacket, either.
