Enjoyable to wear, checks all the boxes

I've compared numerous rain jacket options at REI to find one that would meet my needs. After testing options from Kuhl, Patagonia, North Face, Rab, Arc'teryx, and REI, I landed on this jacket. My basic criteria: - Waterproof - Fit is not too baggy, not too tight - Does not make a loud swishy noise when moving - Can wear while running outdoors Pros: - Lightweight, no noise issue when moving - It does the job as a waterproof layer - Includes zipper vents under the arms - When not fully zipped up, the flaps lay off to the side more easily than other rain jackets. I.e., the flaps DO NOT dig into your throat - When the hood is off, the top edge tends to stay away from your neck - When running with the hood off (e.g. when it has stopped raining), the hood tends to stay in place (vs. with other rain jackets, the crest of the hood tends to bounce and jab at your neck from behind) Cons: - Not a huge fan of the color options, I went with black - Not as form-fitting as other brands, but it works In sum, as opposed to other brand offerings, I'd actually want to put this jacket on. It works perfectly when the hood is down and the front is partially unzipped (e.g. while wearing indoors or driving). It's also the best option I could find at REI to function as a layer when running: the hood stays put for the most part, and it includes arm vents to cool off. This jacket wins my vote. P.S. Comfort in exchange for function

Took this jacket on a 2 hour walk in light rain and had the following impressions: -this is the most comfortable rain jacket I have ever worn. It allows for full range of motion and fabric is rather pleasant feeling on the skin -breathes incredibly well, akin to a light sweater -probably not a good choice for heavy/prolonged rain. Parts of the jacket started absorbing water after the first hour but I was still dry when I took it off -the comfort and breathability of this jacket are, personally, worth the tradeoff for mediocre functionality I'm 6'1 with a heavy muscular build and found the XL to fit quite well after cinching, with enough room for layering

Arms are way to long and wide

Jacket is a little boxy, but not too bad. Hood fit is alright too. But the sleeves! Super wide and 2-3 inches too long. Returned.

Glad I have it

Quality materials. Velcro cuffs. Pull-tight hood. Unique hook-holder on outside of jacket, though not noticeable; didn't even see it for months. Fits around bike helmet. Good sizing is shoulders for those who lift.

nice jacket

Water beads right off it unlike lower quality rain jackets where it just sits on it, eventually soaking in. Zip works good and the brimmed hood is a nice touch. The inclusion of 2 pockets is also very useful.

runs small, very thin fabric, overpriced

I wear size XXL. Ordered XXL. It runs small. I don't want to test it for waterproofness. It doesn't fit. Very thin cheap fabric. Years ago i could buy much better quality gore-tex jacket for less. Returning.

Great!

Great for what it is - a breathable and stretchy shell. Fit is good and I love it. Can’t recommend enough.
