Great shorts, with some minor defects
I love these shorts—they're almost perfect! They're lightweight, breathable, fit well, and look great. Unfortunately, after a few months of regular wearing and washing, some manufacturing issues emerged. The magnets in the hip pocket closures ripped out—they're clearly too strong for the lightweight fabric—and the binding at the top of the liner's cell phone pocket came unstitched, so it just flaps around in there and gets in the way of getting my phone in and out of the pocket. I reached out to Roark about their one-year warranty, and they've been responsive so far.
Great Carrying Shorts w/ 1 Caution
Comfortable and well-fitting shorts that do very well when you have to carry things like phone, car fob, hotel key card, house key, crushable cup, gossamer wind shell, fig bars, spine wallet, and whatever else without everything bouncing around. Would work well with backpack and waist pack belts. Haven’t used and washed it enough yet to comment on long term durability, but it runs with load quite well. The caution is that the slash pocket magnets ruined a hotel key. Had to have the front desk remagnetize the card. Reco keeping everything that might be mag sensitive out of the slash pockets. I’m 6’-0”, 175#, 65 YO, chest 39, waist 35, hip 39, and thighs 21.5. Have size Medium, which fits perfectly.
Great idea with the Magnets...but OOOPS.
When first wearing these shorts, I fell in love with the magnetized pocket closings....until I washed them the first time. The magnets secured to the bottom of the washer and proceeded to be destroyed after 1 wash. The magnets tore through the shorts during all the thrashing/spinning and the string of the shorts turned into something like a broken slinky. I cannot recommend.
Great idea, bad quality
Purchased my third pair of shorts and every time the magnet in the pockets rips through in only a few weeks. I would like to love these shorts but the fabric around the magnets is just garbage.
Not worth the price
Seems starting to rip after a year with only being worn occasionally, quite disappointing.
poorly made
These shorts fell apart immediately. The liner unravelled rendering them useless.
A little thicker than other running/gym shorts
I’ve been looking for some running shorts I can also use at the gym or in the sauna/hot tub at the gym. These are perfect. Some of the other running shorts with inner liners are really thin & lightweight, which is probably great for a run, but less so for doing squats at the gym where I don’t want to show off the goods. I have some Ten Thousand shorts but they are constantly on back order now, so I was looking for something similar. These are very comparable.
Best Workout Shorts
These bring everything together that I want. Spandex phone pocket, magnet close pockets, zipper pockets. Amazing fit. Great feel. Highly, highly recommended. I’ve tried lots of workout shorts
