Very orange but beautiful. I usually wear a size 6 ladies shoe. For trail running I bought a 7 men's and it fits perfectly for this purpose. Very comfortable. Lightweight. Foam feel sole. Great buy.
I have other Terrex Shoes, these run at least 1/2 size smaller. This can be a serious issue as most people buy 1/2 large for Ultras. I made a huge mistake and ran a 50k in these (1/2 size larger than normal). Highly recommend a full size larger for anything over 13km and 1/2 size larger for anything under. Cons: My shoe laces we double knotted, but still managed to come untied 3x. Very slick and DO NOT lockdown. Pro: Continental soles are stick and offer great traction. However, the lugs are small, and I would not use if it had rained recently. Very light, yet still stable and sole is thick enough not to feel most sharp rocks.
These are THE most comfortable shoes I've ever ran in. Just a genius blend of the two foams. The Litespeed foam at the front gives fantastic ground feel. You just want to run fast in these. I've used them in two 50 mile races and for some mountain running in Scotland. The grip is amazing on wet rock, not great on grass and mud, obviously, but a brilliant dry trail shoe. BUT the problem, as others have reported, is that the foam wears through and a split develops where the two foams meet with the plastic torsion bar. This happened to mine after 150 miles... Such a shame as the uppers seem solid and they're super comfortable but that design flaw is a killer for a shoe in this price bracket.
Note that this is a review for long term use, 400km ++, possibly more than can be expected from this shoe. I am extremely happy with the shoe when I finally got the sizing right. I am a tall, heavy guy and have used these on 30km+ runs without issues. Adidas don't make it easy to report possible long term flawes and/or defects, hence this review. As shown in attached picture a deep rift have appered. This has happend on both shoes, at the same location, so we know it is not due to sharp stones or roots. It is due to fatigue. I will buy a new pair if i can find them at reduced cost.
Top notch! Sexiest, coolest, most comfortable trail shoes I’ve ever ran in. Feel like I could run thousands of miles in these no problems. Adidas terrex are taking over!
2.5mm lugs, 8mm drop (stack 18/26mm) More cushioning, built for longer distances (10k+) on both compact trails and hard-packed gravel. More boost than the Speed Pro.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im very partial to Adidas. The shoe seemed to fit well (snug). I used it to walk in the mall (to break in) and they did well. Problem was I bought these to run in dirt trails (as advertised). Once I began trail running, I felt the rubbing on the Achilles (just above my heel). Little did I know both on my feet were being cut into by the rear upper part of shoe. They then began to bleed. I tried loosening the laces and it didn’t help. I placed a regular size Bandaid and it didn’t work. I finally placed a 3”x3” bandaid block and that helped but only after bleeding all in the rear of shoe. Maybe this shoe will work for someone else with a slightly different shape of Achilles but it did not for me. They were returned…
I have a lot of good trail shoes and didn't really need another but, after the success I've had with so many great road running shoes from Adidas, I decided to give the Terrex Speed Ultra a try. I'm very glad that I did because this is the perfect trail shoe for road-to-trail situations but also handle various terrains including rocky technical trails. It's light, fast, nimble, and is very grippy. It's also surprisingly comfortable for its low stack height. The Ultraboost lineage is definitely there. This is the shoe I'd take with me on short trips (for business or pleasure) where I know I'd encounter light trails. It's also very comfortable for long runs although I probably wouldn't take it more than 10 miles. I'm sure it would be fine for long distances but my feet would prefer more cushioning when going that far. Overall, I'm very happy with this shoe as it is very versatile despite its minimalist look and vibe. It runs slightly narrow for my slightly wide forefoot but using the second eyelet near that area solved the issue and the it fits like a glove. It's definitely one of the most comfortable trail shoes I've tried. Highly recommended!
Just enough boost, balanced with lite strike, for great cushioning on uneven, rocky trails. That midsole also propels you nicely through the run. The Goodyear tread, modeled after a bike tread gives great traction up hills and on trails, and then the midsole works with the traction to push you along. No heal slippage at all - very secure. I don't love the top material - I wish it had more give, like on the ultra 21's, but its waterproof and very breathable. Awesome for trail running, but also works well on roads to get you to and from the trail. My feet felt great, and legs had good energy. Pick up a pair (if you can find them) and hit the trail!
These shoes have filled the spot as “go-to shoe” for long training runs and ultramarathon racing. The have just enough cushion to feel comfy all day, but are still sleek enough to feel speedy as well. I have found that it takes about 60 miles to break in the midsole. But at that point, this shoe really becomes the cushy trail monster that you’ll reach for every day. I’ve ran 13hr days up and down mountains, and won a speedy 50 mile race in this shoe. I’m in love! I’m starting to see minor tearing and wear on the mesh outer at about 400 miles.
