Didn't work for me, but you might have more luck.

I followed the mounting instructions exactly, however after my first try I realized there was a better way to route the cable by my cycling computer, so took it apart and started over. Second time through everything seemed fine, but couldn't seem to get it tight enough, so took it apart, wrapped some tape around the bars so it would have more friction, and put it back together. All seemed well for a couple of weeks, but then I noticed that it seemed to be a bit loose. I loosened off the set screw and the cable tensioning screw, pulled the cable out through the last hole (I didn't cut it off thinking I might need to adjust the tension on it later), and then proceeded with the last steps of the installation again. Tensioned the cable, tightened the set screw... and that's where I went wrong - I think I overtightened it and stripped the plastic threads that it sits in, ruining the bracket. I was my mistake, however it's not a very robust design if it is so delicate that it can be so easily ruined. After three installations the sheath on the cable had frayed a bit, which may have been why I overtightened it. If you decide to go for this one anyway, I would recommend: 1. Try your very best to get right the first time - multiple mountings with the same cable wears the sheath off the cable where the set screw pinches it. 2. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SET SCREW. The instructions say tighten to 1.0 Nm - not sure how you measure that, but tighten just as much as necessary. So two stars because it may have been my mistake in using it, otherwise I would have given it one star or no stars. I'm going to try the Rixen & Kaul version a try, it looks to be a better design.

Doesn't fit my bike

Be aware that this is only one of four different handlebar mounting kits by Ortlieb. This one did not fit my Trek ebike. The Trek website has a link to the one made for my bike. Orlieb website has descriptions of four different mounting sets so you can decide which is best. REI should update the description of this product to clarify.
