I have been running in UD Ultra Vestas for as long as I can remember. This pack was to replace my Vesta 4.0 because the back string broke. I’ve done two long runs in it and am absolutely chafed up on my back. I applied so much body glide after it happened the first time but it repeated right in the same spot. Aside from that, it’s got way more “strings” and everywhere. The pack never feels like it sits securely and does a lot more bouncing from the bladder than I’ve experienced in the past versions.
I wanted a running pack with more storage space for long runs than my Osprey Dyna 6 provided. This pack has been decent. It can easily fit what I need (extra layers, some first aid supplies, water filter, snacks, headlamp). It is very lightweight, and cinches down well, though it is a little annoying to un-cinch later. There are a lot of strings- I removed a lot of the bungees that didn't seem necessary, only using 2 to attach my poles horizontally to the bottom of the pack. If you only use 1 bottle the bag shifts a bit and feels lopsided. Overall I'm happy with it.
The vest itself is fine to jog/run in - I haven't faced any chafing issues thus far. It doesn't come with a bladder but has space for one. The water bottles (included with purchase) ARE NOT durable AT ALL. One of them sprung leak after only 3 uses.
I bought this to help with hydration and all the extras I bring with me to hike and run! Holds all my stuff, no chafing and cinches up really well. I found it odd it didn’t come with a bladder but it fits one really well. 10/10 would recommend!
Pros: Light weight on your body, great for light runs, doesn't stink after a long run (in fact my cat used to rub herself on it afterwards). Great Quality / Great Brand. I have another vest by the Ultimate Direction which I like better but this is a solid back up. (I did not like Osprey) Cons: Gets dirty easier because of the light color, wish it had more zipper pockets, doesn't hold a lot in the main pocket in the back, too open.
