I’m a big fan of the Prana Brion Slim Pant II. They look good when I’m dressed casually with a t-shirt or if I want to dress them up with a sport coat. I’ve worn them on a hike, out to dinner, and to the office and they worked well for me in all those situations. I love the stretchy, soft material, it seemed to work well with my body and felt comfortable in the warm summer and fall weather that I’ve been wearing them in. I’m 6’2” and 165 lbs I wear a 32” x 32” and they fit a little loose in the waist and snug in the thighs. These are great pants and I highly recommend them.
At first, I loved these pants. I have one pair that is great, but I have two pairs that started to peel apart around the buttock region. The fibers have actually started to come off, making it appear that I have "butt hair" growing out of the back. This happened to one pair only after about 4 months of wear, while the other pair started to break down after only about 10 wears. I'm not sure if I happened to get two bad pairs from a bad batch, as the other pair I have has been great for about 3 years. But a pair of 90+$ pants shouldn't break down in such a short time.
These are a very nice pant overall! My testing include a couple of hikes, a day at work, and a day clearing brush in my yard. Will break down into a few pros and cons: Pro #1: breathable. Living in North Carolina, summers are hot and humid—so finding an outdoor pant to wear for certain activities is hard. This fabric allows lots of airflow, and the mesh pockets don’t stick to your skin which is a huge plus. Pro #2: comfortable. With a nice amount of stretch, and iron on as opposed to stitched in tags, the pants move with you. I didn’t have any time where I felt chaffing, and the stretch was nice for bending, lifting, large steps, etc. Pro #3: Cut. I enjoyed that this slim fit pant had a bit more of a tapered leg as opposed to a wide straight leg. They were fairly true to size, and definitely more stylish for daily wear if you need them for that. Cons: the only main con is I wish they looked just a little bit nicer in terms of details and finishes. As you can tell in the picture, everything is fairly flat. The day I wore them to work, I couldn’t help but feel a bit more underdressed than if I was wearing jeans. In conclusion, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these a bit in terms of functionality! They will be a nice addition to your closet for hiking, yard work, or errands around town.
I like the look and feel of these pants overall. The fit is good (not too tight in the legs) and they look nice and function well for everyday wear as well as more active activities. My one gripe is that there isn't much space in the pockets; my iPhone bulges out more than other pants and I found myself checking if things were falling out of my pockets regularly. When I was doing something more active, I would put everything that would normally go into my pockets in a bag instead just in case. If the pockets were a better fit, these would be my go-to everyday pants.
I purchased these pants for traveling, and one of my main reasons was the idea of a secure, hidden zipped pocket (similar to my Kuhl and Lululemon pants). I was surprised to find a tragic lack of said zippered pocked. The pants themselves? Almost perfect. I ordered 34" x 34" and have muscular thighs, calves and glutes. I like a snug fit and felt there was enough stretch to comfortably accommodate me, even when wearing a base layer. They are incredibly comfortable and lightweight. I feel there's a tiny flair at the cuff, which works well for a boot, while not taking away from the tapered look when wearing an Oxford or similar shoe. I'm a "tweener" when it comes to height and am always in limbo between 32" & 34" a 33" inseam would have been spot on but if I order different PrAna pants, I'll probably opt for 32". Alas, the lack of the hidden pocket will have me retuning these. A quick peek at the PrAna website show that there is no mention of the extra pocket, So this one is on REI. No biggie, we all make mistakes!
I ordered size 32x32 and it was a bit big around the waist. When I measured it, it was 34 inches! The tag inside the waistline says 32x32. At least the inseam was the correct length.. very disappointed with the quality control at prAna.
I own 3 pairs of the Brion Slim pants (original, not these v2's), so far they've lasted for 5 years and are in perfect condition. I assumed the Brion Slim Pants II was the same pants as its predecessor, because they look identical, but it's not the same at all. Firstly, these run small. I'm a 29" waist, 150lbs 5'10", i got a 30/30 in these pants and they're too small to fit more than halfway up my legs, can't even put them on. Secondly, these are cheaply made, and falling apart upon arrival. The stitching was coming out in several place, and it is much lower quality stitching than the v1 pants. The material is different than the v1 pants, and it feels cheap, it doesn't stretch like the v1 pants. Prana used to be a great clothing company, now it just looks like they've taken the route of shortcuts to increase profit while decreasing quality. Customer lost.
These pants are smooth to the touch with just the right amount of stretch. I’m usually not a fan of slim fit pants but these are great. They perfectly walk the line between casual and business casual. I have worn these while at a nice restaurant and while on a walking tour through New Orleans and they were the perfect pant for both occasions.
Description mentioned that there was a hidden zipper in the back pocket. This is blatantly false. R.E.I. Is this a mistake or a typo?
When these pants arrived, I was worried that they would be hot and a little bit short. I’m 6‘2“ and 195 pounds and the 34 x 32 fit perfectly (I typically wear 34x34). They have a nice slim fit that is not restrictive at all. I wore them to play golf in 95 degree heat and they were great. Comfortable and cooler than I would have guessed. I also wore the pants to church and the office. I have a little bit of a shimmer to them but are very nice deep gray. They pair well with a lot of shirts. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised and plan to wear these often in the next few months.
