Good built quality. poor design
The pillow is decently light and compact, and has survived 2 years of use. So the built quality is there. The design, however, is sort of poor. The pilow has two sides, a soft fleece one and a slippery nylon one. The soft side is what you would want to sleep on since its the more comfortable one, but then the nylon side starts sliding around like a hockey puck on ice. And if you switch sides, the nylon just doesn't feel comfortable against the face.
No support, like sleeping on a cold balloon
I could not get this pillow to work for me and I’m really surprised at the glowing reviews. I’m mostly a side sleeper, but even when sleeping on my back it felt so uncomfortable, like sleeping on a balloon. The bottom side slid around on my tent floor and sleeping pad a lot. No matter how much I tried inflating or deflating it, I usually ended up chucking it to the bottom of the tent in the middle of the night and got better sleep with my coat bundled under my head. Maybe if it wasn’t so flat and square it would have better neck support. It does pack down impressively small, which I appreciate for backpacking. However, I felt like I was better off leaving it at home and saving a few ounces.
Comfie
Taking this out of its stuff sack made me feel like a clown pulling handkerchiefs from a pocket. It packs small but it’s good sized and light. The velour fabric is soft and comfie! This a really nice camp pillow that will adjust infinitely. Alternatively, the back side is slicker than mercury and I find myself chasing it around my head as it eludes my grasp like a greased pig! I’m going to add some silicone drops to put a stop to that. Then, voila=perfection!
Good until it runs away
The pillow is fairly comfortable and the size of it is optimal for backpacking, but it has two sides: the comfortable, soft, one that is perfect for the face, and the slick and slippery plastic side that is uncomfortable for the face. Problem is that when using the soft side to sleep on, the pillow will practically be running marathons. It slides so much that it didn't even feel worth it to sleep with
Comfy but annoying
It’s comfortable but the valve continually pops open and deflates if you blow it up anywhere close to full. So if you like squidgy then it’s nice and it packs down well but if you like firm then look elsewhere
Comfortable, Adjustable and Easy to Use
I got this pillow over Thanksgiving and have used it on several trips since. Beyond the quality feel of the material under my head (for a packable pillow), I liked the ease of blowing it up and collapsing it to easily put back into the stuff sack. It took about 6 breaths to blow it up and when I unlocked the red "button" in the valve, it deflated easily to store. Leave it to the Germans to engineer something like this! LOVE IT!
Happy with travel pillow
I purchased this pillow, for a remote fishing trip in Alaska, due to its compact size and light weight. It is easy to use and I found that it held the air very well. I had no issues with leakdown over a five-day period. It stayed in place and only moved when I wanted to readjust its position. Overall, the Cocoon Air-Core Ultralight Travel Pillow is a good value.
Love the pillow, had to replace bladder.
Have loved this pillow, yes the back is slick so you need to anchor it somehow to keep it from escaping during the night. After a couple years of use the pillow ended up with many pin holes which I suspect one of wife's cats got to it somehow. Easy and economical to order a new bladder from cocoon, hope to have many more years of use, just keep away from cats.
good pillow
I’ve had it for two years now, and it’s held up. Able to adjust how soft/firm you want it by the amount of air that you blow into it. Since I only fill it 80-90% I haven’t had any issues with it slipping about. No issue with air release over night. Not a lot of padding so it doesn’t trap heat which is nice. It does have a simple valve design that at one point got stuck in the release position, but a quick rotation of the valve stem allowed the spring to reset and it was back in working order.
Useless !!!
bought two and neither hold air...... valve leaks audibly.... is there no quality control anymore ? what a waste of gas and time..... now the hassle of return.... can't trust exchange unless we try in store ?
