useless

After 40+ years of using rolled up clothing for a pillow, I decided to upgrade to this pillow. What a mistake! While the nylon cover feels smooth and silky in the store, those same qualities make it useless in the field - it's so slippery that it constantly shot out from under my head. (Not that different than trying to hold onto a fish underwater.) Under-inflating the pillow helped slightly, but left me with the sensation of bouncing my head on a waterbed. After five nights, I gave up and returned to my proven pile of rolled up clothes.

Only lasted one trip

Do not buy this pillow. I bought it before a backpacking trip and it only lasted one trip before getting a hole and deflating. The inner air bladder is extremely flimsy, feels like a durable pastic shopping bag. I cannot emphasize enough how gently this was treated before deflating. I'm disappointed because I feel like this was a waste of $35.

Great package, not very useful

I got this because I fell in love with the size. That is about its only positive quality. Fortunately mine did not get a hole like the other reviewers. The biggest downside I found is that both sides are nylon/polyester, so it slips off of your head and any surface it rests on. I found it difficult to keep under my head the whole night. I also found it wasn't quite thick enough and I needed to add some thickness with my clothes. I plan to return and get the other Cocoon, which my son has. It has one side made of cloth and is thicker, so at least it will stay in place.

Small, lightweight but otherwise not worth it

Bought this for a backcountry camping trip. Small and lightweight, but super slippery and worse when on a slippery sleeping bag. Only stayed in place because the mummy hood on the sleep bag. I had trouble getting the cap over the deflation button to stay on which caused it to deflate too easy when button was touched. Not worth the cost.

Great Pillow- when it holds air!

Boy thought this was a really nice pillow. Fairly soft and so lightweight. Third time out though and it no longer holds air, leaks all along the seam. For the price you pay for it this should hold up, when gently used for at least a few years! Really disappointed.

Deflated on first use

I wanted to love this pillow - the material is so soft, it is incredibly light, and it packs down well. However, on my first camping trip I realized that the pillow couldn't stay inflated. It would deflate within the hour, and eventually I had to switch it out for a makeshift down jacket pillow. Really disappointed with the quality of this product. I received it as a gift and am sad it's not going to get any use.

GARBAGE

DO NOT PURCHASE. Owned 2 of these and they both end up leaking from around the valve area and not areas you can just repair with a patch kit. The first one I got for my son ONLY lasted 2 summers. The second one I got only lasted 3 summers.

Loses air.

I like the size & weight. Keeping it under inflated worked for me related.to comfort & keeping it from slipping out. My problem is I only used it a few times and now it doesn't hold air. It's so leaky I can't even get it blown up completely to find the leak. Poor quality.

Fits the bill, but doesn't last

I like the way this pillow packs up very small. The nylon surface is slippery, but it gives off less of a backpacking vibe in the airplane. Doesn't make much noise. I like to have a window seat and lean against the side of the plane to sleep, and this pillow is the Goldilocks size for me. Unfortunately, after m5 or fewer overnight flights, it developed a slow leak, such that it wouldn't last more than a couple of hours before needing topping-off. For the price, I expect greater longevity.

Wonderful travel companion, until....

I have travelled all over the world with this pillow, and have LOVED it...but when I put it in the wash, the innards somehow twisted, and no amount of futzing with it will allow the air to escape. I can blow it up, bu I cannot release the air. Over time it deflates on its own, but it is not longer very useful. So sad...it really was a comfortable pillow.
