Lightweight and stretchy material so you can pack a lot. It’s lighter than my old daypack and has padded adjustable straps for more comfortable carry. The 15L is perfect for my petite frame. I was able to pack 3 days of clothes, toiletries, all my electronics and hiking gear for a trip to the Amazon in this bag. I’m also using this for a whitewater rafting trip to keep my gear dry. Since it doesn’t have internal pockets and is very deep, I used two packing cubes to organize my stuff. I also used a large pencil case in lieu of the front pockets often available for backpacks. It’s nice that I can also lock it.
Love this bag so far! Seems water proof with all the rains. It has so many thoughtful designs, little loops, hooks, strips for your stuff, and made with sustainable materials. I only wish it had more interior compartments.
I initially thought the Typhoon 15 was too small, so I also ordered the Typhoon 25, but I ultimately stuck with the Typhoon 15. The fit was better and it was large enough for a daypack. I love that this bag is waterproof, comfortable, has chest and hip straps, and has two side mesh pockets for my water bottle. And the little bungee cord on the outside was an extra bonus. Unfortunately, I only got to use this bag twice before it was stolen (out of a locked vehicle) while traveling *sobs* – that's how great it is, stealable!
I keep finding new features of this little bag, which is fun! I like that the roll top means that it is basically expandable (at least when you don't expect to need the waterproofing). Both waist and chest straps is a great touch on a small bag like this. My one complaint so far is that it sits rather high on my back, and I can't reach the side pockets while wearing it -- I often like to keep things like my phone or a water bottle in outer side pockets for easy grabbing, and its too high up / too narrow a bag for me to reach without removing the pack. On one recent trip I decided to supplement with a fanny pack just for that. So it doesn't tick all my boxes, but it's a nice add to my backpack collection.
I used this pack on all my most recent hikes and it was great. Despite having narrow shoulders myself it was still comfortable and the adjustment straps were perfectly placed. Super super light weight but still manages to not skimp on features like the side pockets and zip pouch inside. The seams along the front edge of the bag double as loops too, which I found to be super convenient for my hat or whatever else you can stick on a carabiner and attach. If you are looking for a waterproof day bag then this definitely hits the mark.
Overall, this is a good bag. It is waterproof as advertised, with the exception of the straps and mesh backing (more on that later). It is very lightweight and the straps are comfortable. I tested it while hiking and kayaking, and I prefer using it for kayaking, since the bag's cons aren't issues for me when kayaking. Hiking: I don't like that it doesn't have divided sections. I like to use different zippered compartments to organize my gear. If I wanted to get something out of this bag, I had to dig around to find it. It does have a small zippered pocket on the inside for things like a small wallet, cash, lip balm, keys, etc. The other con for me (and this was a big one) is that it doesn't allow for a hydration pack. The pockets on the sides are nice and big enough for water bottles. They are actually better than the pockets on my regular day pack, since they are snug/stretchy and hold things in when I bend over (things fall out of the pockets on my current day pack when I bend over). But because I had to stop and take off my bag to grab my water, I felt like I wasn't hydrating enough. That said, this bag is a good option for shorter day hikes or people who don't mind taking off their pack to grab their water when needed, or carry a lot of stuff (you cannot fill it too full since you have to roll the top down 3-4 times like a dry bag to close it). I did like that it has a feature for attaching hiking poles and other things to the outside of the pack. I also like that the outside is waterproof. The water beaded up and ran off the bag, and it does this without having to put on a bag cover, which can be helpful when the rain starts suddenly. Kayaking: This will now be my go-to bag for kayaking. I was able to place it behind the seat and easily reach around and grab my water bottle and snacks from the outside pockets. It was large enough to hold my extra clothes, a jacket, shoes, a towel, and my first aid kit without getting too bulky or heavy. Because it is waterproof I wasn't worried about the contents getting wet. However, the straps and mesh backing did get wet, meaning my shirt got wet when wearing the bag afterwards (which of course isn't a big deal since I'd planned on getting wet anyways, but something to be aware of).
This was an excellent pack and I am seriously amazed with how well it’s performed so far! Used for a Big Sur trip and now taking it on my cross-country grad trip :))
tried out this bag, picked up a green one, loved the color. Has 1 zipper pocket inside and a clip for like keys and such. on the outside is 2 pockets to hold water bottles or other misc. items. at the bottom of the bag on the inside is a little tab you can hold onto and pull out to really get all the crumbs out. The velcro straps to are use to wind-up any loose strap is a plus, though the velcro some times gets caught on you. Overall, it is a great, easy to use day pack. I would have preferred the 25L, as that is what I am more accustomed too.
Used mostly for day hikes in hot weather and on boats. Simple pack with great features. Love the small pocket with key leash inside, the daisy chain, and outer stretch pockets. Gives me peace of mind to know all my things are safe in this waterproof bag. Only thing is that the back padding can get quite warm and the straps get soaked with sweat.
This little bag has a lot going on. For a small bag, it has a lot of connection points and features. First, the bag does work well in the rain. When used in a light rain the bag kept the contents dry. The roll top provides quick access despite the rolling and buckle, it was not inconvenient to get it open. The entire inside lining can be pulled inside out (not detached) for cleaning or dumping water if water did get in. It is a fairly small bag, and would probably not work for more than a day hike. I also used it just walking around town and it was suited for that. I do not think it is suited for being a work bag carrying a laptop. The straps took a little adjusting. The straps are a little over 2 inches wide, and while they are padded, they felt a little narrow. The chest strap does help keep them in place, and this little bag includes a waist strap as well. The straps also seemed a little short over the shoulder, but they are very adjustable, so with some experimenting I was able to make it work. For a light load, it was not an issue, but I would not try to carry anything heavy. Overall, a good bag for water activity or possible rain on a short outing.
