Exped  Skyline 20 Pack

I was looking for a smallish light daypack with a ventilated back for warm weather hiking, additionally I also wanted to use it for travel. I couldn't find the perfect multi-use pack, but this one checked the most boxes. The features I really like are the stowable hip straps, big exterior mesh pocket, dual water bottle pockets, ventilated back, rain cover, extra big zipper opening, and exterior hydration bladder (between bag and back pad). What I was missing to make it a good travel bag was pockets for tablet, cords etc. Conveniently there are loops inside the bag where I was able to attach a padded tablet sleeve with pockets. In the photo you may also notice that I added a pouch to the shoulder strap, unfortunately the built-in pocket on the strap is a little small for a regular iPhone.

Great pack. Has all the features that I was looking for. A couple tweaks would make it perfect. -The pocket on the shoulder strap is not quite big enough for a smart phone. -The single pocket on the waist belt is also not big enough for a smart phone. I like to take pictures on my hikes and having the ability to quickly grab my smart phone to take a cool shot would be nice. -The dense foam padding on the back was digging into my upper spine which was very uncomfortable. I took the vented foam board out and shaved off some of the top ridges with a razor knife. that fixed the problem. It's much better now.

I love this backpack so much. I'm a short woman (5"1) and the size small is a good fit - at first I thought the back was too long but it fits really well. It feels like everything I need fits in this bag for a day hike or travel. I love the deep pockets for water bottles, strap pocket for my phone, the stretchy outside pocket is a great size and seems super durable, and the stow-away hip-belt is such a cool feature. Clearly a lot of thought went into the design of this bag and it pays off - it even has little Velcro bits around each of the straps so you don't have straps dangling everywhere, which I never knew I needed but it's fantastic, especially when it's wet and muddy. I love everything about this bag.

My first new daypack in 25 years. I was specifically looking for one with a rain cover, and I appreciate most of the other features too. Only disappointment is that the cell phone pocket on the strap is too small. I use the phone while birding to identify bird calls, and it fits so tightly that it is difficult to take in and out to use the screen. Would rate it 5 stars if not for the smallish cell phone pocket.

Very nice bag for day hikes, back is well vented; the main zipper makes it convenient to reach item at the bottom of the bag without having to pull everything out. This is a well made bag. It's also light compared to other technical bags. I expected the green to a little darker but that's not an issue. Overall, this a great backpack

The Skyline 20 is a well designed backpack, wth a sleek form factor. It's quite suitable for travel and hikkng.

Great for dayhikes. Stays in the truck loaded for taking the dogs out in the woods.
