I've had it for about two months now, which I guess is not that long, but it really had plenty of opportunity to shine in precarious autumn weather in Belgrade. It has been warn in -2 to +10 C temperatures; through light showers and brief downpours; in cold wind around 40 - 50 km/h. In addition, I had it on when the window of my van couldn't close in the middle of the highway, driving 120 - 130 km/h, in the outside temperature of around 3 C. I felt the wind, just as I felt the rain each time I was caught in it, but I was never cold nor wet, and I haven't even come around to wax it yet.
I've had this anorak for 4 years, if you are into bushcraft and want a tough outer shell this is for you. This is not a waterproof coat, you have to (Wax it properly) to make it (water resistant) the more care you put into it the greater the rewards and then it will hold out an for an hour or so in heavy rain, however this anorak does dry quickly if soaked. Where this does excel is on the cold crisp days/snow/winds, walking/bushcrafting, it holds the perfect temp without condensation and there is so many options for ventilation and coverage with the hood for all conditions. (This is not for your average dog walker, this for your more serious outdoors person that knows and will look after thier gear)
This is my go-to shell for the outdoors if I am not heading out in a downpour. While is it weather resistant, it is not waterproof (see Eco-Shell jackets for that). My favourite feature of this (and there are many) is the oversized hood. It protects, shelters and still allows great visibility. I've found many uses for the front pockets, as there are two that overlap. There is a kangaroo style chest pocket and a pass-through hip pocket. The kangaroo pouch is great for anything you need to access quickly, like snacks. :) I've also found that the pass-through pocket can be used in conjunction with a pack that has a waist belt to pass directly through it and still allow access to the pocket. Great jacket!
I bought it after many years of looking at one , excellent garment bullet proof feeling, don’t get to close to fire 🔥 or else does burn, the cuffs feel they needed one more adjustment setting tighter, it’s very comfortable, looks classy no Doubt, not cheap too
I don't understand why everyone says these fit very large. I purchased an XL as suggested (5 '9"- 215lbs). I have broader shoulders and chest and XL fits well even a bit snug to pull over initially. I suggest go by recommend size, if you have broader shoulders/chest. The jacket is decent. I do find the zippers to be a bit skimpy for this expensive jacket. The jacket excels in colder weather and snow, because the hood is great, obviously proper layering necessary. If the snow is wet or it rains it does saturate. And heavy coat of wax recommended, will help a bit, but not solve issue completely. If price doesn't scare you off it's a good jacket with some short comings. I do not regret my purchase the pros outweigh the cons.
Really well made. Fabric feels sturdy but still fairly lightweight. Stitching is solid. Zippers seem beefy enough and run smoothly. I recently waxed my anorak and I think it looks even better now. The large collar enclosure is really nice, can be either wide open or cover part of my face. When zipped all the way up, the hood is almost like a tunnel hood like the old school parkas. The shaper in the hood is a really nice feature as well. Would recommend sizing up if you're going to layer heavily in winter.
I wanted the Anorak for years. my wife bought it for me for Christmas 2 years ago. I've worn it on many of our wilderness adventures and haven't been let down yet! Exactly what I was hoping it to be. I have the 2-tone and it is perfect. I've worn my Anorak in the cold of Alaska with just a tee shirt underneath and was perfectly comfortable. As I'm only 5'7" it is a little long on me but I love it and wear it regularly. I've waxed it and it keeps the cold and wet out.
This pullover style jacket is too good for various occasions and activities. It gives great wind protection with the oversized hood and has loads of storage space in the Kangaroo style pockets where I have all I need for trips to the forest. Although it can be hot at times, it has ventilation zips on the side that help with that. Not waterproof but boy is the fabric still thick and durable enough to keep some moisture out and help me get things done when I'm outside!
As others have stated, this piece of kit is built like a tank. It's served me well hiking and camping in the Appalachian wilderness areas and around town. Tip: there isn't any "give"/stretch in the G1000 fabric so I've found pulling my arms through first, before pulling it over my head and body works best. Some folks also suggest unzipping the side zips. I'm 6' and 190lbs (34 waist) and Medium fits nicely with plenty room for a wool sweater underneath.
The very definition of durable. I’ve been wearing mine on hikes for 6+ months, and I can tell this is going to be a lifetime piece. The highest quality materials throughout. The only thing is I haven’t figured out what the bungee strap is for, sewn inside the back of the jacket. The hood is very versatile, as is the button down neck. The wire in the hood for shaping is great. Very roomy pockets in front. The leather zipper handles are another great touch.
