Great but one big flaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This should be a 5 star review but the lack of pit zips is a shocker. The rest of the jacket is great, while I have not yet been in extreme weather it has held up against heavy rain on its first outing. It’s very well made and looks great but at this price point pit zips should be a given and it is very disappointing to not have them - I had not even noticed while ordering as its so common on this sort of jacket. It rules me out using this for most of the years day hikes or coastal walks in the rain as there is no venting. A real shame. In the right conditions where you would need ventilation the it’s a really nice jacket - perhaps this stays in the urban environment.

Great jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really waterproof and plenty of pockets, good for layering with firecrest or nimbus.

Really nice rain jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very well designed jacket. My last rain jacket was an Arcteryx that cost about twice as much but the Stormbird is pretty comparable. I think the only thing I miss about my Arcteryx jacket is the zippers, which felt a little smoother and higher quality, but the zippers on the Stormbird aren't bad at all. My previous jacket also had a nice sturdy hook to hang the jacket up, but the Stormbird can only hang by its hood if you don't have a hanger. Otherwise the design, pockets, and waterproofing are all top notch and I love the coverage of the large hood. I'm 5'11" and 150 lbs, but I had to return the medium and order a small. The small fits me perfectly, and still has room for a chunky sweater underneath.

The zip gets better!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been very pleased with the jacket, the build quality is excellent when compared to other brands, happy with the fit and the range of adjustment to hoods etc. I've not had a chance to test the full extent of the water resistance so can't review this. The one point I would like to make is that I almost did not buy the jacket due to the operation of the main zip, in the shop it took multiple times to engage/disengage before I could zip the jacket up, this was frustrating to say the least. Anyways I did buy the jacket and during the short time I have had it the newness has worn of the zip and it operates with ease. I think it would be wise to inform prospective purchasers that over time the zip will operate with ease.

Long life

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In July whilst on holiday in St Ives it rained and I decided that my old waterproof had seen better days so I purchased a Stormbird from the local store. For weeks thereafter it didn’t rain but with the recent change in the weather I have worn it regularly so I am now able to do a review. It has kept me dry in torrential downpours and it feels very substantial which I suspect will result in it lasting many years to come.It seems very well made with fully taped seams. I like the four zipped pockets one of which is internal.A very pleased customer.

A coat that ticks the boxes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’d been looking for a replacement coat for a while. My main goal was to find a company that was ethically focussed and who didn’t use forever chemicals for waterproofing. Finisterre met those requirements but looking online I was torn between the Skybird and Stormbird. A quick visit to the Covent Garden store in London, and the additional pockets and heavier weight of the latter swayed my decision. I’ve been caught in a few downpours since buying it and I haven’t been disappointed in the fit and quality.

The Best Rain Jacket I’ve Ever Had

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Every 2 years or so I end up buying a new rain jacket, and they are a necessity for someone who adventures in the US Pacific Northwest. At some point they usually lose their ability to repel water and I can see them falling apart. But I’ve never invested in a 3L one like this, and I can really feel the difference. It feels solidly made, and it feels like I have some good storm protection that can potentially last longer. It looks good too, and I feel comfortable wearing it to work and social settings, as I do hiking up a mountain. Probably the only thing I’d change is maybe move the side pockets down a bit so I put my hands in them more comfortably, but other than that, it feels amazingly perfect. I’ve never felt so comfortable walking in the rain. I’m 5’-5”, athletic build, and a small fits well. I have space underneath to layer.

Mens Stormbird Waterproof Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent rain shell, perfect fit and the shape of the hood and protection it offers is just superb.Fabric feels strong and it held up well in a prolonged heavy downpour...bone dry on the inside.Highly recommend this jacket, everything about it is just the ticket.

Great lightweight Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Finisterre Stombird Jacket Coat and I couldn’t be happier with it. From the moment I tried it on, I could tell it was a high-quality piece of outerwear. The fit is excellent — comfortable without feeling bulky — and it allows plenty of room for layering on colder days. The waterproofing is outstanding. I’ve worn it in heavy rain and strong winds, and it has kept me completely dry and protected. The material feels durable and well made, but still breathable enough that I don’t overheat when walking for longer periods. The hood design is particularly good, offering proper coverage without restricting visibility.I also really like the simple, stylish design. It looks smart enough to wear in town but is practical enough for countryside walks. The zips and fastenings feel solid and reliable, which adds to the overall premium feel of the coat.
